Congrats those are two nice deer.
Curious was the PA buck on private or public land?

My first AR kill...Crippled cull buck last weekend of the general season.  He was missing left rear foot.  Which was to bad, he might have been pretty cool in another 2 or 3 years.  You can see in the bottom pic how the injury has effected the antler growth.

55 gr. Winchester Ballistic Silvertip at about 80 yards.  Dropped right where is was standing.

Thanks.

I hunt public land with some other guys (mostly extended family) in Elk & Cameron County ... our camp is in Dents Run, Benezette Twp. My grandfather started hunting that area in 1936.

This is my dream buck! Taken in the wild no fences!!! In 2011 it was the seventh largest rifle buck taken that year. I missed the Boone & Crocket by 1.25"!!! Un-official 166 5/8, after the drying time and all deductions, 158 6/8", 160 or higher will get you an entry in B&C. Did make the PA books though! ;) This was taken with my Browning ABolt Medallion .270

At home.

Thats pretty crazy. I have never talked to anyone who has shot a deer like that. I wonder how long he made it missing a foot and how he lost it.

My first deer back in 09 with the only suitable rifle I owned at the time a FN SPR A1

My mule buck from two years ago shot with my Winchester M70 in 300 H&H

My first M1 Garand kill two seasons ago

My elk calf from last season

I shot this mully doe at 382 yards with a 165 gr SST this past season

My first SCAR16 kill with a 53gr barnes TSX

My buck from last year with the 300H&H winchester M70. I shot him down in a coulee at 107 yards with a 168gr barnes TTSX doing 3125fps. Needless to say he dropped right in his tracks

I took my 13 year old out, Nov 1 & 2, for youth season. It took until
the last 5 minutes of light on the last day, but he came through. I
noticed a dark spot a decent way out in the field and told him to check
it out. He determined that it was a deer, so I said go ahead and take
the shot, but give it a couple inches of hold over. He fired, looked at
me and said it went down. We went out and checked it out. Sure enough,
he dropped it, in its tracks...base of the neck shot on a young 9 pt
buck, at just over 300 yds.  Not a bad way to get your first deer.    (copy pasted from my post in the LaRue forum).

I got this one today from about 240 yards. it is an 8 point  I used a Barnes TSX .  gun is the new not even for sell yet Colt901 MARC. ( modular rail)   sent to me as a T&E gun

I feel kinda guilty because it was actually on a doe humping the shit out of it.  I guess if you have to go, thats not a bad way to go,

I may be the first to kill a head of big game with the new 901MARC

took this feller' with my 16" 300blk homebuild the day after thanksgiving. i shot him @ 25 yards to my right and he took off like a scalded cat. he ran in a semi circle behind my stand @ 45 yards down across the creek and started up the hill. i took a second shot and he slowed and stumbled but kept moving up the hill. i took a third shot and he dropped and never even twitched.

all 3 shots in the same hole.

the first was a direct pass through of the ribcage and took out the heart. the second  exited the lower abdomen  and the third in front of the left hip. all 3 Through and through's with barnes blacktips.

Depending on what last pic your referring to its either a 120yd "Texas heart shot" or a 110+/- head shot. Both using 77gr Noslers, and both drt.
Gonna try the 62gr Fusions next year just so I can better match my Acog bdc but the 77gr Noslers have worked great for me so far.

2015 Pronghorn Antelope Horns-Shorter-Than-Ears Hunt. Northern Nevada

Federal Fusion .223 62 grain. Not recovered. 1/4" hole in, 1/4" hole out. Perfect heart shot with significant spine damage noted. Dead right there - not a single step or flop. Never knew what hit her. Around 175 yards. Biggest doe I've ever seen and one of the most fun hunts I've had lately.

Got this pair within 5 minutes of each other in North central MO.

My buddy flushed the doe out of a ditch and she came right to me.  I didn't want a doe on the first weekend of buck season but I shot her because she had a broken back leg and couldn't run. She was 75 yards out.  Better to put her down than let the coyotes find her.  Two bucks followed her into the same spot she came out of and one of the bucks came out and took off in the opposite direction. I hit him while he was running away full speed at 250 yards (246 on range finder).  Blew out his right elbow and passed through his chest but didn't hit any vitals.  He sat in a ditch for about 10 minutes until I walked up to him and put one right behind the front shoulder.

Rifle is a Savage 10PC in .308 and I use 180 grain Federal "Deer Thugs" that you can find at Walmart.  They shoot sub 1 inch and almost as well as 168 grain match kings.  Scope is a Vortex viper PST ffp/mrad 6x24.  It's a little overpowered for the rifle but I can always put it on my next long range rifle and hop down to a 4x16 that would suit me better where I shoot, though the max distance shot where I hunt could be upwards of 600 yards if I had the opportunity.

Started hunting last year and learned real quick I needed some warmer clothing. This year I came out prepared, took a week off from work and I was feeling pretty confident.

I was hunting out of a little blind my cousin made behind his house a ways and I kept hearing gunshots all around me. It was about 11:15 and I was going to go back and grab some lunch and then go a little deeper in. I get out of the blind and stand up and see a nice doe coming down from the hill to the north. I plop myself behind the nearest tree and try to scope her in. I only could see her ass end for the moment and she started to move slowly out where I could see her whole body. Since this was potentially my first "big game" kill I kept telling myself to relax and control my breathing. Plus if I missed, I'd never hear the end of it from my cousin.

So I get my breathing under control and she creeps out and puts her head down. I was aiming right behind her shoulder and fire. She goes down but then I feel a little ache in my head and then blood was just dripping on my rifle and hand. Then I realized I forgot the most basic rule - back away from the scope! It's ironic because that's one thing I didn't even think about and it's not the first time shooting a scoped weapon.

Enough of the rambling but I figured some would enjoy that little mishap. I guess you can say I've been initiated into a unique club.

Aftermath: 115lbs doe from 100 yards? My cousin said its about that but I'm not too concerned about the distance. Just happy I was able to get my own meat this year.
