[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Stack them high and stack them deep (Page 1 of 2)

| I'm not here to discuss today's big news event, but I would like to reinforce for those that have been putting things off, you need to buy your preferred firearms, magazines and ammo *NOW* while they are still available. RIGHT NOW! Charge it, take out a loan, sell the family heirlooms, do whatever it takes! You may not get another chance. |
+1 I hate to say it but I've got enough ammo that it's becoming a storage problem. No, I don't need to store it at anyone else's house, yet. I have two safe's full of hardware including several EBRs. I need to stock up on more foodstuffs and some other hardgoods. I'd like to get a better/bigger genset and more fuel storage. Additional propane storage is also on the short list. |
Your logic and reasoning isnt nearly as fun as running around in a panic and throwing money away. |
I can agree. However, we are supposed to be level headed prepared folks on here, right? |
We are already at that point with milsurp ammo, and primers are not as easy to come by. Wait until next week...........
|
Is that you Ammoman???? |
Bwhahahahahahah! Aren't you the same guy who railed against silver and gold? Your post are always comedy gold to us! |
|
Easier said than done in my situation Fewlio. With a daughter about a year away from going to college and needing a car, my priorities are in a different direction. With preferred firearms I'm set for now. With ammo, most of the caliber I shoot I reload for them so I am set in that department. But if Hillarious Hillary would become president then the dark cloud of the anti-gun movement would be upon us. |
|
I think that firearms and magazines will prove to be a better investment than gold, even if the purpose is to simply trade/resell them at a later date. People act like I'm telling others that have more guns than they could possibly want to run out and buy more...but that just shows a lack of reading comprehension skills. I said for those that have been putting off buying critically important firearm related preps, to delay no longer and "pull the trigger" so to speak. I'm not talking to the people that have already taken care of it. Luke 22:36 "And He said to them, 'But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one.' " You guys think you invented this prepping and BoB stuff? Not quite! The man upstairs was on top of it a long time ago! |
|
While I too am upset about the fact that guns are once again being trashed, and H1022 is almost certain to land at some point, running around like a Liberal Hurricane Katrina victim in the wake of another storm is not the answer. Take a deep breath and exhale. then, start thinking about what's the most likely soon to be banned items you'll need. Personally, I buy a little here and there when a have some extra cash laying around, but I refuse to panic at this point. I say, stay the course, buy what you think will be unobtainable in the future, spread your purchases out. and don't run around wildly at the next gun show or your local dealer. if we all did this, prices would be even crazier than they are currently. Budget your gun money, God forbid, don't morgage your life for a trunk full of guns. On that note, I have to get the F@#K out of here and get some fruit for the GUN SHOW this weekend!!!!! GET OUT OF MY WAY!!! LOOK OUT!!!! KDX |
Lk 22:38 And they said, "Look, Lord, here are two swords." And he said to them, "It is enough." I will admit to some panic buying. I had a $100 Midway certificate and I have been sitting on the fence on what to get. I ordered $100 worth of pistol mags. |
Ancient wisdom indeed. This is JC expressing the maxim that "two is one, and one is none" |
If you've waited until know, you've waited too long |
|
I may pic up a few AR mags to add to the stash while they are still affordable. Ammo? I am reduced to buying a few boxes here or there instead of big case lots. I found some Wolf .308 FMJ today for $5.25 a box. Bought the 4 boxes he had. I would like to keep adding ammo and some med's to the stash. The ammo for training mostly and the med's as they expire. I'm not going to panic buy but if I sense a run on something i am looking for, I'm gonna jump on it. |
Jump the guy all you like,he has a point. He's a little late though. I here a lot of people say the high time to buy was in the 80s. I personnally wasn't able to then anyway,so my high time started November 19 ,2004 and ended sometime in late 2006 with the last shipments of Port surplus and the last parts kits imported with intact barrels. If your starting now with the priced all jacked ,I feel for you. That first big step is gonna be expensive. |
That's the whole problem,,we are all in different stages of preps. It may be very important to him to go out and buy such things. As for us old dogs,, not so much so as we already have them. He's entitled to his opinion as it applies to his situation. So, cut him some slack. |
|
While my respects go out to the victims and surviving family, my preps will not change. The rollback of civil liberties in a time of crisis is nothing new. The day that we have to make a public stand in protection of our liberties has grown closer, and I'd prefer sooner than when I'm aged and immobile. I saw Ted Nugent on one of the networks, and it was obvious by his body language that he realizes more terrorism and liberal infrigement of liberties is on the way. We are following the exact path of Australian gun control. Are you ready? |
| Sometimes panic is good. If you need stuff like that, get it NOW. It's never gonna get any cheaper! You'll never gonna see SA .308 again folks. No one saw that coming. I feel sorry for people whose gonna get a .308 rifle now. Gun laws will never get more liberal. The gate can fall very, very soon and it's too late. |
|
Going about 1 new firearm a month. Just finished up a project that I pulled a shitload of OT on, the extra cash is coming in handy. Just have a few more guns on my list, then more ammo, mags and repair parts. I feel like I have about a year to pick up a lifetime worth of stuff.. |
|
I don't think this latest shooting will affect anything any time soon if at all. Just not the political will for more gun ban laws right now. .... If you need and want the ammo and guns now buy them if you can afford them but I wouldn't do it thinking that you had too. I remember how in the past when people thought that this would be thier last chance to get things like large capacity magazines and assault rifles it drove the prices up to the moon. Wonder how many people are glad they bought those $30 AK mags or those $75 plus Glock ones now, eh? .... Sure I'm glad I got on close to the ground floor on some things and wish I had bought more of that cheap ammo but I'm also glad that I sold those $1,200 ARs back then too when some people thought it would be thier last chance to get one.Not to happy about selling all those $350 M1 carbines now.. My advise? ....stock up on the cheap Mausers and Mosins and thier ammo now but don't do it thinking that it is your last chance .......Todd |
|
I think a good investment may be some receivers, mags and bullet components if you can get them cheap enough. That is where I have been putting a substatial amount of money at. If I am wrong, then I will be able to build my grandkids some awesome Christmas presents. M4s for Christmas and AKs for Easter = Cool Grampa......although my kids are still little. Remember there is nothing wrong with 30 AR receivers in the bottom of the safe to help weigh it down.....that is if I hadn't lost them in that tragic boating accident a few years ago....... sad day |
| I dont have an AR and I can't see spending $180 for another 1000 x39's. But I might put a brick of .22lr and a box of .380 in the cart for a few weeks. I have enough ammo right now for someone who, save for when I bought the .380, hasn't shot his guns in almost a year. |
|
Well you're too late to buy at the good ole day prices but if for some reason you have no dependable firearm for self defense by all means go buy one now, preferrably face to face private sale! yes you are too late to get ammo cheap that being said, really if you want 1-2 EBR's orAK's, SKS's or whatever, $300-$900 each is not that much, go get an extra part time job to pay for it. You can deliver pizzas or bartend at night and make that in a month or two. Really do you need 10k of MBR ammo? Don't give me the training crap, you can work around that too with a .22 if you had to! Not the best solution but no debt or maxed out training, I'd pick no debt. Is training better, of course it is, but there is also a reality budget. An SkS and a crate of ammo socked away wouldn't be a bad thing. No food and water? That would be a bad thing. |
Shop across the street said the last few days have been a bit slow. |
Well, apparently the market varies by location. |
|
The democrats are nervous about the gun control issue. It cost them in the 90s and they don't want a repeat. Look at Nancy Pelosi. She's one of the big gun control advocates but she hasn't mentioned it and seems to be trying to avoid the issue. No doubt it will come up again but for the most part she's trying to avoid it. As a side note, does anyone notice that most of the mass shootings have taken place in areas that severely restrict the carrying of firearms? Places like schools in particular. I wonder how many shooters notice that and know that they can carry out their plans without interference from an armed citizen. Point that out to everyone you know!!! Gotta beat the democrats at their own game!!! |
+1 on stacking/stocking up on magazines. Right now, ammunition prices have reached the stupid stage. But the price of new magazines is great. If you feel the urge to panic buy, go for what is still cheap! |
|
What is the purpose of stockpiling thousands upon thousands of rounds of ammo, a shit ton of firearms for a survival situation (Other than using them as barter currency in a post apocalyptic situation)? I mean if the world goes to shit and you can't defend your home or place of residence and hunt food with an AR15, a 12ga shotgun and a 9mm/.40S&W/.357mag/.45ACP pistol I think you're pretty much fucked unless you have some fantasies about equipping your own militia. Money would be better spent on other supplies which would be more useful. Of course I'm not really into survival aside from the fact I find this forum to be an interesting read. Maybe when I get a house of my own I'll toss some cases of water and 2 cases of MREs in my closet just in case. If the world decides to end I'll just rob Wal-Mart of all the supplies I need.
|
I guess you will need lots of ammo because every idiot will be robbing Walmart at the same time. I am really hoping that you are kidding as most here would consider this so stupid that it has to be a joke. Right? We stock up on ammo so we can have it when the chips are down. We can still practice when you are wishing you could afford to shoot. |
Ever been in Walmart before a big storm? Shelves are cleaned out. Better re-evaluate your plan to rob Walmart. You might show up with your weapons only to find an empty store. Also, if that is your plan, then you'd better find another forum to infest. That attitude isn't going to go over well here. |
| Well I really hope things don't get bad as I still need to add some more 5.45 and 7.5 ammo to the closet. Then there is the reloading setup and at least 4 more handgun purchases. Got to put that money away for 2 competition pistols and that 100 year anv. 1911 that will be out in a few years. |
I went into a buying frenzy, using a whole lot of credit, at the time around the '94 AWB. In retrospect, it was a crappy idea. Definately not worth the stress and strain; the defacto selling of myself into slavery to pay for armaments well in excess of any conceivable need. As I get older and (presumably) wiser, I've come to the conclusion that much of the things that I want are simply to appease materialistic lust. Not to fill an actual need. Time and time again, whenever a cool new "toy" is purchased, a few days later I couldn't care less about it. Considering the amount of time it took to earn the $$ to purchase it, it often times is decidedly not worth it. Being debt free gives me a hellluva bigger warm & fuzzy than would having that FN2000 in the closet. <touchy feely rant off> |
That reminds me, I gotta go pick up that FN 2000 and SIG 556, the Barett M99 should be here next week. |
