I got permission for a new woods this year.  I scouted it the last day of muzzleloader in the event I jumped something up.  Saw deer and coyotes tracks and that was it.  The woods makes a "L" shape on the southwest side.  A field (corn/bean) goes right up inside of it.  Question is, do i put a stand up on a tree right on the edge of the woods overlooking the field? Or do I set it back in a little ways.  It looked like the deer came out of both sections into the field and also traveled right through the "L" where the woods connect.  Thanks for any input and I will try to make a map of the area so it is easier to see.

Prevailing wind?

ALWAYS hunt the wind. You can fool their eyes and ears but NEVER their nose.
Sight unseen I like the "crux" of the "L" and kill 'yotes with extreme prejudice!

My first choice would be to put my stand as close to the "L" corner as possible. 20 yards off that trail should be good. Good boy range for anything that goes into the corner but still good that you can shoot down the field.
