In event of no power, will food last longer in the refrigerator or would it be better to transfer what you can to portable ice chests?

The longer you keep the food in the refrigerator without opening the door, the better. I would think that putting it in a cooler would be your best bet after 1-2 days with no power, when the fridge starts to lose it's cooling effect. It's easier to tranport and add ice to at that point.
