Hey guys I am looking at buying 10 acres out past Manor Texas from my uncle and want to hunt on it. I am not sure if there are hogs out there but I have a buddy who has a ranch down south with tons of hogs. What are the legality issues of trapping about 20-40 hogs and importing them to the area to hunt? Is it even legal?

How are you going to contain them?  If you import them and cannot contain them, you are spreading those pests to all your neighbors.  Almost like someone releasing bunch of rats in your neighborhood just to have target practice.

If I remember correctly, transporting live wild hogs is illegal unless you are taking them to butcher?  Someone else can chime on that.

If you attempted that sort of the thing in my neck of the woods either the neighbors would lynch you or the game warden would. Transporting hogs and turning them loose to run wild is a legal no-no that's taken very seriously here and I doubt Manor is much different. They can only be legally transported to an approved slaughter facility or TAHC approved "escape proof" enclosure. If you are a farmer, rancher or just care about native wildlife it's an easy policy to understand.

I am asking questions becuase I did not know the answer, and want to keep it legal. You ought to respect that sort of thing instead of threatening me.

As far as I know hogs are found in every single county in Texas. SO I am sure with a little work I can attract some onto the land and "harvest" a few.

Edit - I am glad you asked and didn't dump out a trailer full of hogs in Manor. Also, there are no threats in my post made or implied. However, I was serious about the community coming down on anyone caught releasing hogs and the game warden WOULD be brought in and possibly TAHC as well.

I'm not sure about the law in Florida but if it's anything like Texas, trapping hogs and just releasing them is illegal, among other things.

In FL hogs found on Private property are considered Domestic animals and the owner of the land can do whatever you want with them, trap, hunt, or breed them for all they care, that is why I asked.
