Doe's anyone have pic's, plan's, or Idea's about how to build tree stand's specific to bow hunting I just use standard ladder stands now. I'm lucky becasue I can leave my stands in place and not have to haul them out everyday. I was using an expensive climber, and didn't like it at all. Were you looking for a larger platform, or something specific? |

Heavy as hell, but take a base of 3/4" plywood. Screw down a couple of triangular 2x8's (try to make them about 3/4 the length of the base) on each side, then put a filler piece between the two at the back of the stand. Edit to add, on the triangular pieces, square the thin end off to about two or three inches but keep the length about 3/4 the length of the base of the stand.
Take six or so 8"-10" bolts and screw them through the filler piece to dig into the tree for stabilization. Take two eyebolts, washers and nuts and put them about three inches from the edge of the base (use big washers). Next get some chain and connectors. Put the connectors on the eyebolts and chain, wrap it around the tree and attach the other connector to the chain and eyebolt. Basically all there is to making one, but as I said, they're heavier than hell but they do last. I still don't really trust them much but have used them for ten years or so. Don't remember what it's called, but taking about a three foot length of pipe (depends on your leg length and seated comfort level), look for a round plate (I think it's called a floor flange?) that fits the pipe. It should have four holes to attach to the base of the stand, and onto a round cut piece of plywood. Pad the plywood so the screws don't stick you in the butt, and you have a swivel seat. |
