I usually go overboard with everything i do including the truck kit. I was actually stranded in the middle of the desert before with pretty much nothing in my truck so from that day on i told myself never again. Everything except the water jug fits in a big Rubbermaid container thats bolted down and locked. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a28/blt2drg/Gunbroker/DSC05432.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a28/blt2drg/Gunbroker/DSC05424.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a28/blt2drg/Gunbroker/DSC05428.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a28/blt2drg/Gunbroker/DSC05415.jpg Since the pictures i've added a couple changes of clothes for me and my wife aswell as everything we may need for our 7 month old daughter. What shovel is that? |

I have an old German surplus one but it weighs 1.7 millions pounds, been eyeballing the Glock but can't bring myself to drop the money on it just yet. |

I havent actually used it much other than trying it in the yard. Seems well made and very light. I picked up a promo pack that Glock was doing a few years ago for 40 bucks and it was included. Came with the knife, t-shirt, and a 4 pistol range bag. I couldnt pass it up. |

I noticed in the last pic, you have Cliff bars and other food. What do you do to keep the heat, I noticed you are from AZ, making mush of the bars and other food stuffs? Do you rotate them out after a certain time or something else obvious I'm missing? Thanks. Be Good, Medic2RN |

My wife doesnt mind them at all and keeps them as a snack at work if she cant take a lunch break. Even after 3 months of being in the heat they still look and taste like they should. The Mountain House foods get rotated out when we go camping, which doesnt happen during the summer. I had them in there from about Feb-Sept last year and when we ate them on a camping trip in Sept they were completely fine. |

I had them in there from about Feb-Sept last year and when we ate them on a camping trip in Sept they were completely fine. Having the food go "bad" was always a concern of mine. I'd hate to waste the food AND money!! We live in the Northeast and it doesn't get as hot here as where you are, but it does get a little colder at times. I would imagine the food would be just as OK in the cold as the heat. Thanks!!! Be Good, Medic2RN |
| It's good practice to keep the food out of direct sunlight. And if its going to be in a large box, like the OP has here, just keep it out of contact with the walls of the box, as that is what is going to heat up first and foremost. The food should stay around the same moderate temp, along with anything else in the box. |
| why does everyone like cliff bars so much? I like them too, but I'm also fond of Mainstay 3600's that are GTG for 5 years in any temp. My humble feeling is that this is emergency food. Unless cliff bars or any other type are part of your routine diet (which isn't a bad thing), I would be hesitant to rely on them. |

I have Mtn House food aswell as Mainstay bars as you can see in the pictures. The Cliff bars are a good snack though when you dont need or want to eat the other food. I keep them in BOB's, trucks, everyday carry, and active shooter bags. |
