In trying to increase my understanding of the relationship between wavelength and frequency and how it relates to amateur bands, I came across a chart that helped me. Courtesy of your tax dollars: United States Frequency Allocation Chart (as of Oct 2003)
Hopefully this chart will be helpful to others as well. If you know of a newer version, or have other charts which would be helpful, please post them here. |

That's a great chart, hcook. I use it a lot for teaching. I printed it and went through and circled the bandspace of all the civilian services like CB, MURS, FRS/GMRS, Marine VHF, Cell phones, FM/AM broadcast. Then I point out the adjacent ham band near all those places to illustrate how much "bang for your buck" you get with ham radio. (I then explain the utility of the different bands WRT propagation and equipment considerations). |

A web page with links off to other valuable stuff - lots of VoIP: ECHOlink, iLink, D-STAR, WiRES, cross-band and digital guides. Also has lists of repeaters in California.
