My uncle and I have been planning on the preparation of a property he owns as a BOL. It has a well but only an electric pump. We plan on installing solar when possible to keep things convenient but I’d like a hand operated pump just in case. What would you guys recommend?

I have seen this pump mentioned on various forums and have been looking for the money to add this to my BOL. I have a nice, 600 foot deep well and I'd like to be less dependant on the grid myself...

I'm moving to a place with well water, and a hand pump is high on my list.

I hadn't thought of getting one to go down the existing well, I was thinking of getting another one installed next to where I'm going to build an outdoor bbq and oven.

Not sure if a newly drilled well for a hand pump will cost as much as the companion pump.

Check with your pump guy FIRST before buying anything. I mean your local pump and well guy, make sure that sort of thing will work in YOUR well. I was just about to place an order for a similar unit, and had the foresight to talk to my well guy first. It would NOT work in my well.

Look here.  I'm the guy in the "Army" sweatshirt.  I had a thread on it here on arfcom but lost it

I have a seperate well that is only used for the water hoses and my koi pond. I was thinking about finding out if I can keep my current well, but add a hand pump for emergency use as well.
Not sure where to start, to even see if this is possible.
