Took up reloading. Breaking myself in with 45 acp which will also help me be better prepared because now I can get more practice time with my carry piece for less money. Will start reloading 223/5.56 next. |

Looked into consolidating my calibers from .380/9mm/44mag/10mm/45acp, to 9mm&10mm (as well as 30-06). Granted, i know that 10mm isn't going to be a great SHTF caliber after ammo shops are raided (or will it? How many looters would be into 10mm? Might be cheap ammo to get in trade, since its rather scarce), but i can pull the bullets from any .40 round i might come across, and THAT is prolific. I also have tons of powder and primers (by my standard) on hand. |

My most recent activity: Yesterday I married a woman who is on board with the whole prepping idea. Couldn't ask for a much better asset than a terrific partner in the struggle! |

Took an engineer type friend, who is sort of liberal, possibably Obama type, hiking and exploring some old mine sites. We were tired when we finished and as my SO fixed chicken salad sandwiches, I got her 5-7 and took some long range shots at a can. Then I aked him if he'd like to shoot it and he took me up! He shot it some [we had brought ear protection for him] and wasn't bad except for gun safety handling techniques. He seemed impressed with the pistol and we'll probably get him to shoot some more. |

This week found a great deal on Magpul, Pmags, bought seven for right at a hundred bucks. Went to the gym, 30 min cardio, 5 sets of overhead presses, and 3 sets each of dips and pullups to failure. Very seriously considering a new handgun, HD P7. It would basically spend all of my tax rebate check, and ahead of time at that. Weighing the options of a good deal on a great weapon, or keep after my debt and becoming debt free. Choices... |

| Well today went over the operation of the Solar Panels, for a few minutes it was running on a cloudy and dismal day it produced 2 KW. Best is they are going to be a dealer for a 3KW wind turbine. I can see that going in hte system eventualy. |

bought a 2004 Nissan Xterra and am keeping my '96 Cherokee.  with my tax check this summer from Uncle George i'll get some nice all terrain tires on the Xterra.  i may decide to put a lift in the Cherokee and nice offroad tires, heavy duty roof rack and brush gaurd to have something for REAL offroad!

Added another 45 lbs of wheat (in a sealed bucket) to our food storage today for $23 at Costco. Wife is purchasing 20 lbs of boneless chicken breast for $30 today. Like RckClimber we have 3 months of food storage already and are working towards 1 year supply. |

I did everything right: I was taking photos at every step of cleaning/prepping/painting my new, 20" scoped, AR! I fully intended to post a tutorial. Then, after shooting the base coat and one stenciled coat, I pulled the camera from my pocket: meaning to snap a couple pics . . . and . . . proceeded to drop it . . . face down . . . on the concrete!  That, as they say, was that!  At least, the rifle came out MAGNIFICENTLY!!!! Too bad I can't post even a finished pic, though! (Much less, my tutorial!)

| In the last week I picked up two 550 round boxes of Federal 22lr. two 100 round boxes of Federal 12ga #8 shot. and some wire to make snares (dont have prior experiance, I have some good books to learn from, just want to have it just in case I need it) Oh and I worked on consolodating my ammo (not downsizing on calibers or anything, just trying to pack more into each can to give me some spare cans to fill) |

Mrs. Gun_Crank picked up the canned veggies at Cub last night for .33c a can, and a flat of Bushes beans for .99c. I'll go back today for another flat of the beans, as there is a limit of one flat. I also started researching gold and silver prices, this week. So then I went to a local coin shop and picked up a 1/10 oz gold coin and some pre 65 silver dollars. |

Past few weeks: -worked out 3-4 days/week, sit ups, push ups, pull ups, run btwn 1.5 and 4 mi per workout -rotated out two cases bottled h2o from 72hr. preps -added various candies (non-choclate) and dental hygiene packs to 72hr. preps. -added 100 rds. 9mm, 550 rds. .22lr & 15 rd. 12ga. slugs -ordered more G17 mags & AR mags -spare AR parts arrived -handgun practice 2hrs -worked 8 hr OT to get more of above... |

Been doing the gym thing and following the 'crossfit' program to the best of my ability. I too, rotated my gasoline, need to add the stabilizer to it, forgot to do that. Probably from the shock of $96 to fill my Tundra and 3 five gallon gas cans. oh boy. Also, and against my better judgement, but a deal I could not refuse, bought not 1 but 2 of the HK P7 German Police trade ins that have been poking around the web latley. Nice guns, can't wait to get them, and shoot 'em. But, downside is, pushed back my goals of paying off my 1 last credit card debt. My one justification is, for the price I paid, I have theoretically made about $200 on each gun. For SHTF situation, I figure a gun and a box o' bullets will be worth a lot in trade or cash money. |

Walked up vineyard mtn (more like a big hill) with 30lbs of daughter #1 on my back. Bruised achiles tendon to prove it. Picked up two Glock 17 rounders at lunch the other day. Going to head back and get an Eotech 552 for my new rifle next week sometime. www.tuckergunllc.com/ has them for $405. |
Found these in the dumpster at work next to the smokers area. I don't smoke but was talking to a coworker who does when I spotted these. A Dietz Air Pilot kerosene lantern and a Benzomatic single burner propane lantern with almost a full bottle of propane. On the way home stopped by a convenience store for a drink and pack of gum and saw these stacked next to the register. Picked up eleven gallons of Coleman brand fuel at a store I seldom stop at.  Now look at the price.  1.79 a gallon. The manager actually thanked me for buying all of them just to get them out of her way. |
Holy Crap  That was a smokin deal. Congratulations I picked up some more baked beans for .99/can at cub foods, and some other items that were on sale. I find that I have a really hard time with the $10.00 a week for preps. Usually I go in and spend $50 or $100 at a time. |
