I have replaced all outside lights with motion activated lights. Next I want to Install a driveway sensor
and a wireless security system hopfully with the two integrated.  And maybe later on some cameras.

What are some of you using or recomend?

Dogs, all they need is food, somewhere to poop, and a little love. They see well in the dark, hear and see people coming up the driveway (and other ways) and provide a real deterrent to baddies. The only thing they can't do is dial 911.

Mine in particular like to run perimeter patrols in the exact same route EVERY time, lay landmines all over, and test the integrity of my backyard fence. So it's an imperfect system.

I am interested in this thread topic myself.  I had been looking into X10 stuff, but their DISMAL reviews online were filled with "they suck, but at least they are cheap" type forum posts.  I have a big house, and don't want to run cables all over.  I saw once a system that uses a cell phone to call you but now I can't find it.  I understand all the crap about wireless systems but I guess my desire for security is at odds with my abhorrence for running 60 miles of wire, or worse yet having someone else do it...

I have 2 terriers and they are great to sound the alarm but not much on protection. Plus we crate them at night because you
don't want 2 terriers running around the house at night with nothing to do. Living in a subdivision I don't want any large breads
especially guard dogs, they are just too much liability.

So I would really like a wireless system for added protection.

i have the cousin of this dog the Bernese Mountain Dog. Unless yours have temperament issues they are gigantic teddy bears.

i dont like wireless ESS theres too many things that can go wrong

you can intercept or jam signals, power failures or dead batteries are common and theres not a 12v backup like traditional systems, theres obstructions of the signal. i dont trust them. its more intrusive to your house but a traditional hardwired system with battery backups is much more secure. just my advice, i did this stuff years ago

I like my GE Simon XT that I've had for a few years now.  When I get around to buying another house instead of renting, I will hardwire something most likely.

Male is a teddy, but a pest that won't leave strangers alone, no sneaking around. He also lays across the hallway leading to the bedrooms when we are sleeping. Female is a teddy but also a skeptic. Most people that have met the dogs before and stopped by when we weren't home report that it seemed prudent to not get out of the car.
