Well, most folks try testing several different brands of .22 LR Ammo, in their " Rifles ", to see what groups best ... ?
Others , might like to use the same accurate ammo ( Rnd Nose ? ) for " Hunting ", with a modification , possibly as a " Hollow Point " ? And then , there are some folks hoping on improving a " Marginal " ( Less Expensive ) Ammo , into something better, by " Tinkering " with it a bit !! " ME ", I just like tinkering with them.. It's a " Hobby ".. nothing more, nothing less Another Type/Make of Modification Tool : Reviewed by Gunblast http://gunblast.com/Paco2.htm http://gunblast.com/Paco.htm Please review the above link, which provides a pretty good description of " What & Why ".. better than I could...
p.s; I also have a " Paco Tool " PAPI |

Believe me, I'm not one to question why hunters/loaders do much of anything as any reason is good enough. Kind of like adding a new gun to the arsenal. No good reason for it but what it hell...why not!
Do keep us informed on what you find out! BTW what rifle/barrel/twist etc do you use and what prompted you to take on this project? What do you hope to achieve? |

Hi.
Just for a clarification: There's really no sense in trying to improve " Expensive Match Ammo " or ammo that is extremely accurate in your partiicular Rifle. However,... if you already have a particular " Match Ammo " ( Accurate ammo ) you could Modiify it for " HUNTING " ; i.e : Hollow Point / Flat Point .. ? I intially started off tinkering with a " Paco Tool ", after reading an article a few years back. It lacked the fine tuning: Adjustments/ Length. I also have a " Neal Waltz Tool ", which I really liked.. But, I somehow misplaced the two forming Rods.. I feel like a
I'm hoping to re-locate them ..? I decided to order the " D Rock Tools ", as a replacement, & it has more " Forming Rod Options ".. Here's another informational link, comparing the Three Best known, Modification Tools. Neal Waltz, Paco Kelly , D Rock: http://rimfireshooting.com/index.php?showtopic=7185 I now own all three My personal agenda : I was attempting to " Modify " ; Aguilas SSS 60 ( Shorten / Reform ) enough to reliably stabalize , using one of my standard 1-16 twist Barrels . I also hope to achieve some measurable improvement in accuracy (?) , trying to stay under " Subsonic Velocity ".. ?
I'll trim the Bullets ( Aguilas SSS 60 Grn : -5 / -10 grns ) with the " SGB TOOL " ( File & Shorten ) , and then attempt to reform ( Swage ; Diam / Reform Tip ) the Bullet using the " D Rock Tool ". TEST RIFLES : Rem 40X / Win 52D / Rem 540 XR / Rem 513T / Savage NRA 19 / H & R M12 / Martini 12-15 / Kimber 82G / Savage MK1 FVT. I've been playing with this project, on and off, for over a year , as a casual Hobby http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_3/650920__22LR_for_coyotes_or_30_30_____updated_new_rifle__.html&page=2 PAPI |
