I am looking for a good quality, or high quality flashlight that is very small and very bright. I would prefer a LED but a Xenon will do. something that only takes one battery like a CR123. this is going to be a emergency "back up" type flashlight. I won't be useing it for everyday use. but I want it small and real bright. thanks for the help. |

Fenix L0d Q4 comes to mind. It's small, led, high output and uses one AAA Here's a link Speed |

Nitecore From 2 to 200 variable lumens with a max of 120 hrs run time all for one Ben Franklin. I really want to give one of these a try. |
Sounds exactly like my Fenix P2D-CEs. |
|
Another vote for the Fenix P2D except I went for the brighter P2D Q5: https://www.fenix-store.com/product_info.php?products_id=360 |
Got one of these for the wife as I wanted the cr123 batteries so that I would not have to worry about long term non-use. Very bright. |

Fenix are great, especially if you are on a budget. Another choice is the Novatec 120p. Customizable beyond belief, and indestructible. The maker/sales rep used to give a "demo" light to costumers at shows and tell them to throw it as hard as possible at a concrete wall. It was done many times, and the battery sometimes died, but the flashlight never did as far as I know. More than twice as much as the fenix tho... EDC 120P Take a look at the chart in the review, you can set the level to just about anything, and quickly switch between them. On the lowest level, it will literally run for days. They do compare it to the P2D |

Inova X5. Known people who have had them for years without breaking. Inova Link Good bargin Inova X5 sale ETA: Takes two CR123 batts instead of your required one. |
There are Energizer Lithium batteries for AA too. |
| It's hard to beat the Fenix P1D CE for small and bright. I've been carrying one on a daily basis pretty much since they came out. It's small enough that I don't notice it in the front pants pocket and, consequently, I virtually always have it with me. |
I agree completely with this. A couple of us have recommended the Fenix P1D or P2D, so let me mention the difference between the two. The P1D is slightly smaller, and uses a twist switch. The P2D is slightly longer, and uses a tail-cap clicky switch. Both have roughly the same modes and brightness, and both use a single CR123. I like the P2D more because of the clicky switch. It's my EDC light and fits in a pocket easily. Didn't know about the Q5 lights-- thanks to whoever mentioned that. |
Got one of these for my wife. She loves it. Fenix makes a good product. |

EDC, Fenix P1D. Keyring, L0D. Survival, L2D with battery tube for CR123's as backup. Times 2. Plus additional spare clicky. P2D q5 on my desk. Old single AA Fenix on the night stand. Plus several others. Needless to say, I like Fenix. The ability to control light output and battery drain is a big plus. And having dropped one from a manlift at 20 feet and it surviving just fine was an interesting experience. I look at SureFire's nowadays and shake my head at how backward and resistant to tech change a company can be. And I cut my teeth on SF's. |

i've never said this on arfcom before, but get both. streamlight twintask led/xenon. variety of sizes, starting with a single cr123 unit, which i have. the light is very tough, puts out solid illum, is compact, and isn't very expensive. the only change i'd ask for is an anti-roll bezel. |
Very true. |

I will ask something you have not asked about A self charging lite I have several of the ones from Gander Mountain They work one handed and are bright enough to find another light or source O'Course if this is your blind the intruder light before the big flash ignore me |
Agree on brand, but you got the wrong model. https://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?cPath=93&products_id=501 I have 2 defender infinities and a D10. The D10 is a much better light. |

www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10196613 Walmart has a number of machined aluminum body, CREE LED flashlights for very reasonable prices I picked up a Coleman with the "impact-striker" bezel...75 lumen for $17 but they had a number of units at 115 lumens also |
| I have a fenix P1 on my keychain. 1 cr123, 55 lumens LED. theres much better stuff from Fenix nowadays, in that same line. my trusty p1 has taken a punishing for years now, and still runs great, so I would expect the same from the newer lights. Fenix is the best bang for the buck out there. |
$10 that beats a Surefire in light output www.metacafe.com/watch/581888/10_police_flashlight_hack/ |
And if you run nitromethane in your Honda it will outrun a ferrari. Anyone who thinks that that "Hack" is a viable solution needs to have their head examined. |
He said he wanted a "back up flashlight". The internals are all just as powerful, though you could argue the case may not be as durable. The proper bulb powered by the proper battery. But $10 > $100 for a back up flashlight. You could buy 10 of em for that price. Or have $90 to spend on other things. Speaking of head examinations... |
