Has anyone rebarreled their 700 in 308 with these?
http://www.advanced-armament.com/Rem-700M-7-Barrel-308_p_465.html

Are they worth the money or is there a better option out there at that price point?  My 700 has the 24" thin barrel and I'd like the ability to shoot it suppressed.

You could buy a Bartlein and have it threaded for roughly the same price.  I'd pass.

If the only reason you are wanting a new barrel is to shoot suppressed, you are better off selling that rifle and buying one threaded from the factory.

By the time you buy a barrel and have a gunsmith install it, you have already spent more than it would cost to just buy another rifle.

I've tried selling the rifle but you know how that goes.

Everyone wants 3% less than retail for their tapco-fucked trash can guns but they want to give you 25% of your asking price.

The barrels are pretty nice. 1:8 twist for the super heavy bullets, Nitride coated, pre-threaded.
I have shot the 308 and I own the 300BLK barrel.
However, I don't think they are $400 nice. For that price(or less), you could order a Rem/Age match/target barrel from NSS (Criterion barrel) or from McGowen or someone else and accomplish the same thing (Prefit barrel that's easy to install).
Last Black Friday, AAC ran a sale for those barrels for $200 or something like that. Now, that was a steal.

A Rem/Age prefit barrel would be easier to install than the AAC barrel.
The AAC barrels are designed from the Remington factory drawings and come pre-chambered, you'll need to adjust the thickness of the recoil lug to adjust the headspace and you need to do that very precisely. With the Rem/Age barrel, you just (basically) tighten the barrel down on a Go gauge and then tighten the lock nut.

All of that said, the hardest part for you would be to remove the existing barrel. It'll be torqued on by an 800lbs gorilla and covered in locktite. You need a REALLY good barrel vise and action wrench.

All that adds up to a lot of cash and like the previous poster stated, it might just be cheaper to buy a factory threaded rifle. Remington sells the AAC-SD series that probably be cheaper than all the parts (lug, barrel) and tools (vise, wrench, gauges).
Savage has several models with threaded barrels that sell for less than $700.

One other thing...

AAC ran a sale last year (Damn the Man rebate).
Lots of people bought silencers and AAC gave them $200 website credit.
Those people are selling those rebates online for less than face value. A friend of mine sold his for $150 or something like that.
So, you could run into one of those rebates that could basically give you $50+ off on the barrel in the end (but you have to buy from their online store)

Also, MidwayUSA has the Medium contour 308 barrel for $329. Backorder OK...

To me, that's more in-line with what the barrel is worth. Plus, if you have a $10-15-25 off coupon or something, makes it really worth it.

I don't have the .308 barrel, but I do have a .260 that I tried.  The AAC barrel just didn't shoot consistent enough for me.  Group sizes varied along with some poi shift.  Also the AAC barrels have an odd ball contour.  Personally if you want a cheaper barrel change, I'd look for one of Shilen's short chambered prefit barrels.

Are you opposed to doing a savage style barrel? There are a few good options out there for that style and they armor DIY friendly.

Not at all but I know nothing about that. I can put a savage-style barrel on my 700?

yes, there are a few manufactures out there who do Rem-age Style Barrels.  Blackhole makes them, as well mcgowen and you can get criterion from northland shooters supply.  No personal experience with the mcgowen, but i have seen the criterion and bhw in action and work well.
