I know most people here have seen the Ruger 10/22 takedown.  I am after something similar in a bolt action rifle.  I have looked at products like Blaser traveler, Sauer's 202, H-S Precision, T/C's Dimensions, and a few others.  The first two and a few others not mentioned are in the couple of grand range on pricing and more.  The T/C Dimensions is a reasonable price, but to take that thing apart and put it together is just way too time consuming.  I thought I would ask here to see if anyone else had some suggestions.

Don't go with a takedown.

To get a truly good one you will have to spend some coin.

I'd go with a shorter fixed barrel and a folding stock.

ETA: or something like the Mossberg MVP Flex with the traditional stock.

This. I have a Flex with a standard hunting stock I got for cheap from Midway. It had a little play but I shimmed it with a rubber washer, no movement. When removed the weapon is significantly shorter. And it's only an 18" barrel to begin with.

Clarification: I got the hunting stock from Midway. The rifle came fom the gunshop.
