I have a Primary Arms "5x Prism Scope" with both red and green reticles. (http://www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms-5x-prism-scope-with-patented-223556-545x39-308-acss-reticle/p/kt-pac5x/)
Today I was trying to sight it in at 25 meters. It wouldn't group. (I pulled the red dot off and, using iron sights, put bullet on bullet, so it wasn't the rifle) I called Primary Arms who told me I needed to sight it in at 100 meters at a minimum. Now I'm not going to argue with them as they know better than me. When I was in the Army, we didn't have these fancy sights, just irons. Can someone explain the "why" a scope such as this can't be sighted in at 25 meters? |

there's 5% chance it's set to be parallax free at 100 yards and is extremely sensitive to consistent alignment of eyeball/sight/target at 25 yards, so you might actually get better groups at 100 if your position is sloppy. you might also get better groups if using the same target because it will look 1/4 as large and you know, aim small miss small. basically, you might have a better sight picture at distance.
but there's a 95% chance they're just FOS keep your head in the same spot, pick the smallest target you can and try again. |
