Do I need ar500 at 400 yards with 6.5cm?

I have 4 ar500 target plates.

I'd like to pull my 400 yard 10" and move it closer, then maybe put a big 2 x 3' plate out there for the kids to hit easier.

What else can I use at 400 and still be safe? Mild steel plate? 1/4" ar500? Any other ideas?

this will be used with 5.56 and 6.5 creedmoore.

I'd use 3/8" AR500 at the minimum even at 400 yards with the Creedmoor.

I would use AR500. It isn't all that expensive.

An alternative would be some old scraper blade from your local scrapyard. I have bought it by the pound.

I went ahead and picked up the Caldwell full size ispc silhouette. Bad pic, but it's awesome. With my bolt gun it's boringly large, but it allowed me to get hits with my SBR and dial in my reticle holds. Blurry screen grab from spotting scope below:
