I'm in the market for a new bolt gun.  It will mainly be used for PRC and hunting out to 1000 yards.  I have quite a few Aero ARs and have no issue with them at all.  Is the Seekins HIT significantly better than the Aero's Solus?

Given Aero's chassis version is nearly the same price as the HIT, what would you do?

Solus. I love Glen and what his team does is great, but after getting hands on with a Solus at GunCon I’m sold.

The Seekins is the higher quality rifle all around and they have great CS in the rare event you need it.

out of those 2 choices i would take the HIT

HIT all day long for PRS.
It isn't a hunting rifle.

Id go with the Seekins out of those two.

But I'd also look at the Daniel Defense Delta 5 Pro. I used mine for my first year or so shooting PRS, it's a great rifle and when I shot out the barrel they replaced it for free.

Whatever you go with, for the love of god, don't get it in .308.   Either 6.5 or 6 Creedmoor.

Hit is all proprietary except the trigger and has a 90deg throw

Solus fits rem 700 stocks, origin prefits, and 60deg throw.

Seekins CS is quick and very good, Aero can certainly be slower and less good but take care of you in the end.

Complete rifles, I guess seekins cause the factory aero BA barrel is gonna be ok at best.  Pva has best deal going on a solus barreled action, you choose cal, contour, and length.  Pair that to your choice in stock and trigger and that's a winner.

Came back to check the thread, and was going to post this. Any smith worth a shot can spin up a profit on the Origin tenon and have you back working a bolt in no time.

They can do the same thing for a HIT or you can just order a replacement barrel from Euro Optic for $500 and have it at your door in a few days.

Hit rifle eliminate the need for go no go gauges. One torx screw and the barrel will spin off by hand.

I have checked zero after taking off barrel on mine and it's spot on. Can actually change calibers at the range.

Very happy with my hit rifle in 6 creed shooting 109  bergers.

Was in the same boat with choosing between the solus and the hit. I think both are solid choices.

Seekins is a solid meh for me and I own one. I would rather take the solus action and put together what I want.

Built my first bolt gun using the Solus.  Love it.  Can't speak to the Seekins but catching a sale on the Aero worked for me.

Aero has a sale on, buy the action get the stock for free. I don’t have any funds currently or I’d be all over that!

That said, if I had the funds, HIT. I love the idea of switching out a a barrel and changing to a “cheaper” caliber for practice.

You can do that with a Solus as well, it’s built to take Origin prefits.

Aero currently has a coupon code on complete Solus rifles: SAVESOLUS. It brings the competition/chassis version down to $1389 and the Bravo version to $1065

The chassis model comes with the triggertech primary, any idea if that's also what comes with the bravo model?

The hunter comes with the field trigger.

The factory Solus barrels are BA. I've got 2-22" 6.5s, a 20" 308, and a 26" 6cm. All .4-.6moa barrels. I've put 6-8shots into less than an inch at 220yds with the 6 and 6.5 multiple times with each and once dialed in I'm not shooting groups much.

Sure they're not up there with the alpha barrel brands but most probably can't shoot and or reload good enough to take advantage of those barrels anyway. The top brands are almost a guaranteed tack driver while I could see some BAs not being able to do much better than .8s or .9s.

They are made to a higher standard than the BA AR barrels btw.

Edit: 9shots on a 16 gong at 1010yds last winter.

I’m still pondering a Solus.

I don’t need another rifle but that’s an amazing price.

Bore scope indicates they are definitely much nicer than their AR barrels. Hand lapped.

Well my solus just shipped a day or two ago, I should know how it does in two weeks when I get it to the range.

I got my rifle this week and mounted the scope last night. I took it to the range today, bore sighted and zeroed.

Scope is a meopta 3-18, harris bipod, rear bag and ammo is hornady american gunner 140 grain. Temps around 59 degrees, wind very little but mirage was wicked because the air was chilly but the sun was out full force and heating the grass. eta muzzle device was a liberty bell from liberty precision, I did shoot a few with my form 1 can but not many.

I fired a total of 66 rounds, the average velocity on the first 10 was 2536, it got faster and by the end it was 2567. It shot under moa for 3 shot groups, consistently and the one 5 shot group was 1.25 inch with a called flyer. I could feel I was not real solid today, I need to play with cheek riser and lop.

I then took it to 600 yards, the 3 moa I did not even try I went straight to the 2 moa. No issues on the 2 moa, started on the one moa and missed low several times. Gave it another .1 mil to 4.6 and hit it many times, then I went to a 4 inch plate and after a hit and miss for a few I had to hold 3/4 the way up the plate. Then hit the 4 inch plate 4 times in a row, and really struggled with the mirage from the barrel and the grass.

Some pics of 100 yards targets.

And the 5 round group. The 3 on the top where the first 3 before any zeroing. But the top left of these 5 I called when I pulled the trigger as to the left.

Good stuff, right there.  Thanks for the call-out and really appreciate the review.

Any other ammo tried?

Looks like a keeper.

Waiting to see if any specials come up closer to Black Friday sales.  Will jump on the Solus bandwagon.  Was questioning if I would go the Bravo or Competition model.

Which is yours?

No that's the only ammo brought. I have about 1100 rounds of it.  Once I get a feel for the rifle I will try to find a load it likes.
