Looking at purchasing a spotting scope and need some advice.
Just found an Alpen 20-60-80 for 399 shipped and would like to know if that is good price for this scope? The item is 788 angled eyepiece? Will I be able to see 30 cal. holes at around 300 yards, as that is as far as I can shoot at this time. Thank you, |

In the inexpensive spotting scopes, I usually recommend the Celestron spotting scopes with ED glass. They are usually a little more than the scope you are asking about, but they are a solid performer and a good value.
The Kowa Prominar series are outstanding spotting scopes for the money, but they start out at about $1300 (with eyepiece) and go up from there. I own an 883 and just ordered a 663. Call Scott Berish at Liberty Optics and tell him Shep sent ya. One of the most knowledgeable and helpful optics guys I know. He will help get you into the best spotter in your price range without trying to screw you over.
