Hey all is this a good starter for 600 to 800 yard comps
Thanks |
| They are nice little rifles, great for small statured shooters or kids or as a truck gun. There are far better choices if competition is your goal. I'd recommend a full size rifle with the add-ons that competition shooters use. The caliber is a good choice but I'd choose a different everything else. |

You want at least 2700fps and as high a BC bullet you can get, you will not get that with the 6.5 Grendel. Might I suggest you first go and watch an NRA High Power Across-the-course match and an F-Class match, talk to the competitors about their equipment choices and then make your decision. Despite the coolness factor of the tactical matches, compared to pure shooting opportunities, they are a scarce commodity, yet nearly every weekend somewhere within a reasonable driving distance will provide you the chance to shoot High Power matches, and you will quickly master the fundamentals. Having competed extensively in my thirty's, I went from novice to High-Master scores in two seasons and set a couple of national records at 500 yards with an AR15 Service Rifle. |
