Looking for recommendations on a left handed bolt action in 308 .  I have looked at the Ruger gunsite scout and really like that one but I really dont know what is good or bad when it comes to bolt guns

Not many options out there. I'm a lefty as well. I have a savage for my hunting rig, but I ended up getting a FN for long range that's right handed.

Savage makes the most LH guns. I have a couple Remingtons, Browning,Winchester, and a Savage. I like them all

My self being a Left hander, the options are slim. your choice of .308 makes your options a little broader. First to come to mind is Remington, I don't think they make a LH 308, second is the savage (Which I have) Ruger and Browning (A-Bolt) are the other choices. Back in 1976 I bought a Remington 788 LH action in 6mm wanting a varmint and deer gun in one. I had Bishop make the stock for me, Which I finished. I still have that gun. The 308 scout rifle is nice but over priced. I think your best bet is the rugeror Browning they being a short action to start with.
The other option get a FAL.

Lucky for me I am a right eye dominant lefty, I shoot rifle right handed and pistol left handed. Other than eye dominance, I don't see what the problem with a lefty shooting a right handed rifle right handed.

Maybe spend the money now and get a lefty built.

Had a savage LH 308 I think it was a model 10? Heavy barrel tactical. Was a nice gun I wish I never sold it. Problem was I couldnt find a left hand stock for it. The factory stock was flimsy.

I feel your pain.  I recently purchased a LH Remington 700 SPS in .300WM for a long-term project to turn into
a precision rifle.  It's going to be a long time until I'm ready to purchase a new stock, but it looks like my options
are severely limited compared to having a right-handed rifle...

Here's a link to LH Remington 700s.

How much do you want to spend?

If I was doing it all again, Id ditch the custom and go with a Tikka T3 Sporter 260 Rem with 24" barrel.

Its not that I dont like my custom, I just dont shoot enough to justify twice the price tag to build it.

The tikkas are $1448 at Eurooptic.

I went with a gunsite scout.
So far I'm pretty happy with it.

i haven't been able to find a Lefty CTR,  including on gunbroker. I don't think they make them.  That's the gun I want is a Lefty CTR in 7mm-08 but no luck so far. probably going to get a Tikka T3 Lefty and have it rebarreled to 7mm-08 and then try and sort out the stock. I have basic stock making skills so I'll probably buy a righty and use Epoxy and some files and switch it over to lefty.

They dont make a ctr in left handed. T3 lite is what you are looking for.

Have the Tikka T3 in 223 and 30.06 in LH.  They are absolutely fantastic rifles and as a extra, they already come with their own scope rings.
