Posting this here because of the depth of knowledge.
I have a fantasy of re-barreling this Ishapore 2A .308 into a .243 caliber. It already has no collector value so no harm. Where would I find a barrel or barrel maker and how much do you think is reasonable for a custom barrel? Is it possible?

Anything is possible with enough money. The difficulty will be finding a good smith to do the work. Prices can vary wildly. You could get something like a green mountain blank for a little over $100. A match grade blank will be closer to 325-350. Barrel work is in the range of another $450 give or take. Again hard part is finding someone who will do it. |
