[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Nikon P-308 scope

I'm new to high power rifle shooting and just purchased a Savage heavy barrell in 308. I was looking at a Nikon M-308 scope when I noticed that they have a model called the P-308 for about half the cost. Can anyone tell me the difference and if the M-308 is that much better of a scope?

Neither one is anything I would recommend, but of the two, the P series is definitely the lesser scope. The P-series uses Prostaff (P) glass, while the M-Series uses Monarch (M) glass.

Optics is one of those "you get what you pay for" deals.
The M series has far superior glass, as Zebra mentioned.
They're actually pretty good for the money IMO. Good 'starter' optic
I would steer you away from the P series though
