I'm on a new adventure this year to find a lightweight deer hunting rifle in 243 that is absolutely as accurate as possible.

If you have experience with 243 rifles and reloading, can you possibly offer some initial suggestions about specific brands of rifles and load recipes ?

Can I simply resize my 308 brass in the 243 dies or does this cause problems ?

Anybody have some specific shooting accuracy results with the Savage Lightweight Hunter rifle in 243 ?

Thanks for your thoughts !

Better to just start with 243 brass.  I have no experience with that model of Savage but in general Savages are usually more accurate than expected for their price.

Just buy the proper brass.

the cheaper way to do it, is to buy preloaded ammo and then start to reload for 243.

look at the hornady superformance 95 grain sst

Get the proper brass try to do win or ppu. I've had horrible life with federal.

Remember to use the proper bullet for the intended game.  I love the 75gr for varmints 105. For distance and I would use the 85-100gr for med game.

I have great results with h100v.

+1 for the Hornady 95 gr sst commercial ammo. Buy a few boxes of this and use the brass to reload. I shoot this in my 243 savage axis and works awesome.

Get the real thing.

243 Lapua brass and 100g Nosler Partitions for deer.

Try H1000 or H4831sc as both are insensitive to temperature.  If you can find them, Hunter and Magnum also work very well.  I don't personally care for Alliant powders because they are temp sensitive.  The only one I use is RL15 for 375 H&H.

Work up in .2 or .3 increments and good luck.
