| If you're not in a rush, look around at gun shows, and some gun shops with decent used gun selections and you'll eventually find a deal for a few hundred on an older 700 with a well used barrel and beat to hell stock that you can pull a nice action action from. |

Yup, the older the better. Get a 25 year old Remington with rusty barrel and broken stock at a hock shop and you'll have a better action than a brand new one from Brownells |

You only need to acquire a 700 action if you want a 700-based build...  However, that's what most people do, yes. 700 ADLs from Wally World, Academy, etc. seem to be very popular donors at around $400 out the door.
You can always get lucky and find a used rifle for less money, but you've got to consider the value of the time it would take you to hunt one down. |

I'd hit the Pawn shops I've seen actions for 300 or so, and rifles from 250-400 that would be great start. most of the time you can't get jack for your take of parts.
If your going to Blue/True/Square, and all that why not just go with a Stillers TAC30. It's about the same once you figure your GS's time and effort. I've seen TAC30's for around 950 or so. Good luck with your Build. |
