I recently replaced the extractor on a Remington 700. However the new extractor is now preventing me from chambering a round. I can force it in, but it damages the rim of the case. Does anyone know what the issue is or a fix? I'm thinking I need to grind down on the new extractor.

Are you sure it's in correctly?   Never had one that did anything close to that, all popped in and worked fine.  Shouldn't have to grind anything.

Something is bent, upside down, or not seated correctly.

Make sure it snaps in place and the hook part is oriented right.

And if it was put in incorrectly , chances are you bent the extractor so that particular extractor will never be any good - they are cheap enough get a new one and put it in right - it will just snap in to the right place - don't feel too bad most of us have done it once or twice - I keep a couple of spare extractors in the rifle case as well .
