Ruger Precision Rifle (Page 88 of 90)

I got to shoot mine over the weekend in Missouri. First time shooting it since the new scope. Shooting Winchester 140 grain match I was able to squeeze out a 5 shot group covered by this quarter which I had used as a target previously. Attached File Attached File Attached File |
| Can anyone tell me if the RPR in 6.5 PRC is the same frame as the RPR in 6.5 Creedmoor/308? I realize the barrel and bolt would have to be different, but I am having a hard time determining if they are otherwise the same rifle as far as swapping barrel/bolt, headspacing, and running with it (no problem going to 308 Pmags). Based on the weight of the different models, the 6.5 PRC and 6.5 Creedmoor rifles seem to be VERY close whereas the magnum RPRs (338 Lapua Magnum, 300 Win Mag, 300 PRC) are significantly heavier and appear beefier. I am guessing Ruger did not create an in-between size between the short action and magnums just for the 6.5 PRC, but I've been wrong before. I will be sending Ruger an email as well but thought I would ask here as well. Thanks for any help! |

Went to the range today and with my last mag made 3 of 5 hits on a 3MOA plate at 1,000 yards with the 308 RPR, first time I've tried to push out to that distance (previous longest was 550yds). Pretty capable rifle.

I have been out of the firearm game for a while. These things had just come out the last time I really did any firearm related purchases. Are these still being received well? Anything I need to know if I wanted to buy one? A guy a town over has a brand new Gen 2 chambered 6.5 creedmore with 24" barrel and hes asking $1180 for it. |
| Question for anyone with a gen1 308 with the 20" barrel. What rounds are you loading that have enough umph for 1000? FGMM 168 is not cutting it past 600 and FGMM 175 is not the greatest at 1k either. It seems that I may have got stuck with a slow barrel comparing the box to chrono (about 200-225 FPS under Federal's Data) in addition to the length not helping either. |

I recently just purchased a gen 2 in 6.5 creedmoor second hand out of the EE. I was wondering if there was a reason not to use my Turbo T2 on it (5.56)? Obviously i would need to get the 5/8 x 24 brake to get it to mount to the rifle. Im a noobie with suppressors and the 6.5 Thanks |

Guys i haven't been following the recent evolution of the Ruger Precision Rifle. A buddy of mine wants to buy a long range rig to shoot about 600 to 1000 yards. Is the RPR still the go to in this price range? Is this the best model to get? RPR in 6.5 Creedmore |

I'm still unable to shoot better than my rifle. I switched out a lot of things to suit personal preferences which is great since they're all AR parts |

| Can someone suggesst a good set or rings or one piece mount for mounting an Athlon BTR to a latest gen 6.5 creedmore rpr? The Athlon BTR has a 34mm tube and 56mm objective. I'm looking for very good value but do not want rings that are inferior in fit. I would also think that I need a 20 moa or similar cant. Do I need a one piece mount to get the cant? |

The RPR comes with a 20 MOA base. Also, take a look at ARC M10 Rings or their 1 piece mounts. They are the best for the money. |

For the RPR, you're gonna want somewhere in the 1.40 to 1.50 range (typically AR height). I believe Seekins are 1.45 and ARCs are 1.42 (1.57 for their M10 mount). Some people go lower, but that depends on what will fit you and what you find comfortable. I believe that some people use 1.26 Seekins rings for their RPRs, but that would probably be too low for some people. Great thing about the RPR? It has an adjustable cheek piece. Remember that you can always raise the cheek riser to where you need it, but you can only go so low. |

| Anyone put a 26 or 28 inch barrel, 308, on there RPR? Still have a hard on for a RPR but dam, 20 inch barrel sucks. Had a RPR in 338 and it was sweet. Back issues caused me to sell it. Am considering a gen III if I do get one. Am also looking at the 300 PRC but not sure on it though. |

I have a Gen. 1 6.5 Creedmoor and want to install the Magpul PRS as I do use the mono-pod occasionally. What size buffer tube do I need to install in the rifle for the PRS install. I have looked at a few videos and talked to a couple local shops. Is it the A2 tube? (M-16 style/Mil-Spec) ? Thanks in advance. |

Thanks in advance. Pre Gen3 PRS needs a rifle receiver extension. The Gen 3 works with both rifle and carbine receiver extensions. |

So I haven't kept up with this thread since swapping out my RPR, but the cop who owns it now was having issues and inconsistency doping it. So he took it to a gunsmith, who borescoped it. Here's one of the pics. I'm not sure what part of the barrel this is but apparently the bore and chamber both had serious erosion. Attached File  it looks like those cheap dumbbells with the bad casting inconsistencies. Fortunately Ruger has replaced the barrel at this point and he's back to using it as a duty rifle. I bought it brand new and put less than 60rds through it, all factory brass Federal and Winchester. Has anyone seen anything like this? After seeing the pics I'm pretty confident that it's nothing I could have done. |
