Does anyone have an SSG 04 or 04 A1?

Not had one myself, but I knew a couple of owners. They are superbly accurate and I didn't hear any complaints over reliability. All of these high-end, military precision rifles ought to shoot very well, the question is more how robust they are when compared with the most popular options such as the AI AE, AI AT, and Sako TRG.
I do have the SSG-69, an older one from '70s or early '80s. It's excellent and I'm very pleased with it. The magazine and trigger could be better on the '69, but neither of those issues cannot be remedied. The factory set trigger is superb and the magazine system can be altered with aftermarket parts. It's probably just Steyr's poor advertising and marketing that keeps the SSG-04 and '08 from becoming more popular. |
