I hope this is the place for his question(s)...

I re-configured my deer rifle (stag 7h upper) with a light-weight HG and 3x9 scope (had Burris 1x4 MTAC).  I got a deal on a Leupold MK AR mod1 3x9 scope and mounted it on the rifle with a LaRue 1.5 SPR (original mount had 30mm rings, picked up the 1" rings from LaRue).  Tightened everything up, laser bore sited at 25 yds, and went to the range today to sight in.
Started at 50 yds no problem- 7 rounds on target- ready to move to 100 yards.  This is where the problem occurred.  At 100 yds the rifle was shooting high so I went to turn the elevation turret down and found that I'm bottomed right out...WTF??

In all the years that I've been shooting I've never had this happen and am at a loss as what to do ( I've have the reverse happen numerous times).
Is there elevation built into the mount? Was there a problem going from a 30mm mount to a 1" mount by only changing the rings? Do I need to go to another mount?

I'm going on a hunting trip in 3 weeks and need to have this worked out.  The rifle right now is shooting 1.25" high- I feel like a bulls-eye shooter because if I hold on the very bottom of the bull (2.5") it lands dead nuts on.   Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Update- so last night I ran the elevation all the way up from the bottom counting clicks as I went. When it topped out, I divided the clicks in half and counted down. For the heck of it, I did the same with the windage and have the reticle "centered" in the tube. Tonight I mounted the scope in a new Aero Precision mount (great mount so far- will report back after sight in), leveled the scope using a laser, and bore sited at 25 yds. I barely had to move either elevation or windage to center the reticle on the laser dot - a few clicks either way. I think my problem is that the Leupold MK AR scope came bottomed out from the factory. I will always check from now on before mounting so as not to take anything for granted. Even new in the box with wrapper Mr. Murphy shows up.
Off to the range this weekend for sight in...incidentally the weight difference between the AP mount and the LaRue is noticeable. I hope it holds up- I'm very psyched about my lighter weight deer rifle (7H with MI gen2 SS 15" HG, magpul ubr stock, and scope/mount combo as described- not sure how much it weighs but less than last year at this time).

Maybe I am wrong, but when you're POI is high, don't you move turrets up, to bring POI down?

I have never seen a scope that directed you to turn "UP" to lower the POI(but admittedly I have not seen every scope).  You would be physically moving the actual reticle up inside the tube to lower the POI.

When I wrote about moving POI up/down its in reference to the movement of the turrets. If you want to move impact down, you turn the knob in the down direction  - it's been that way for ever.

Yes, I was incorrect. The turrets are marked for which direction the group will go, although mechanically, the reticle is moving up, to bring the POI/barrel down to meet point of aim.

PEQ-15 laser modules are like that. If your shooting high, you have to adjust the screw to the "UP".  Same with windage. I don't know the reasoning behind it, but it's retarded.

When I was reading OPs posts, my brain was thinking "Point of Aim is low" which is why I was thinking turrets needed to go up. I realize now that most turrets direct you based on which way POI needs to go.
