I can't take credit for this design since I was told about this by a local long range shooter, but I thought I would share these target stands. They're made of nothing more than conduit and rebar - 5 36" pieces of rebar per stand and 4 pieces of conduit. You bend one piece of conduit around the other and weld it in place to form the brackets for the crossbar and legs. They work extremely well. Since there's no wood they won't get shredded by spalling coming off the gongs, and they break down into small pieces so they're easy to store in a car trunk or the back of a pickup. If you need to carry them out to the range they're light and easy to handle.
I probably should have used a little bigger diameter of rebar since it sags a little with the weight of a 12" gong, but other than that they work extremely well.

I use those plant hangers that look like a shepherds hook. They work great for my 12in plates and they are light weight and don't take up much room in the jeep.
