So I have been waiting for my FFL to get a RPR in 6.5 since they came out and still nothing so I am planning on doing my own build and was wondering what everyone thinks,
Tikka T3 lite action 535$ (complete .308 rifle) Bartlein barrel 6.5 (contour?) 360$ ( also is the wait time for the barrel 5 months? or can I find them else-where?) gunsmith 360$ and XLR chassy 570$ So right now I am looking at around 1800, is there anything else I should be looking for? |

Gunbroker has quite a few. Not sure what street price should be. |

I prefer a krg w3, or xray, to the xlr. The xlr is machined nice, I just dislike the egos of it, especially compared to the w3. I also recommend mountain tactical''s steel 20moa rail with SS recoil stop The KRG chassis is very nice. I have a KRG W3C and it fits great. Finish is great. Ergo are great. Modularity of the whole chassis is great. I had considered doing a Tikka T3x build in a KRG Xray, but I decided to hold out to find a RPR. |

Thanks for all the help,
Gun should be back from the gunsmith this weekend, just waiting on getting the barrel threaded, went with the barrel being 29" medium palma, gunsmith told me he would shorten it for free if I didn't like the length. One question, I am planning on using EGW HD 20 moa rails with a Vortex PST 6x24, What height rings do most people run on Tikkas? Right now the scope is sitting on another gun on a Larue SPR 20 moa mount but I am afraid that the mount will be too high? |

my last 2 tikka's: with the included 0 MOA mount i HAD to use Seekins Medium rings. Low the 50mm bell would touch the barrel. with a 20MOA Medium would work obviously but you might be able to pull the low rings I'm pretty new to the bolt action game, but wouldn't a 20moa base put the objective closer due to the downward angle? |

I think you're best off using the penny/feeler gauge method once you get it back. |

Finally got the gun back from the smith, so glad I went with Tikka for the action. One thing I didn't think of however, this stock needs the folding adapter if you want to clean/pull the bolt without removing the comb! http://<a href=http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t488/libilaw/AF309154-4033-4160-9AF3-724611234E78_zpsf4fjacxp.jpg</a>" /> Still better than the X-ray. I have to remove the comb and then basically disassemble the entire back end on mine. |
| Yes. It's definitely a pain to take off the rear comb to remove the bolt. But placing 2 hollow rods on the hight bars and then "glueing" should make a consistent stop for when you place the comb back on. Something I'll be looking into doing when I'm at the store. Should be light enough to not be a concern |
