I picked one of these up today.
Pretty neat deal, seems well made. It's picking up the 2.6mph wind from the fan in my living room right now. Works great with iStrelok! I can't find much about them online though. This is my first wind meter so I have nothing to compare it to, anybody else using these? Thoughts?

I ran into what looks like the same thing, but a Nikon. Nice to see it works with something other than the "Spot on" app To bad it doesn't have a thermometer as well. Wouldn't have taken much... They do make a model that also includes temp, barometer, relative humidity and dew point. WeatherMeter |

I have the bluetooth one that does Temp, Humidity, wind speed, etc.
My biggest problem is that it doesn't change temps fast enough. Take the device from inside to outside and it takes a long time to change the reading to match the outside temp. Wind speed works great though. |

I use the bluetooth version almost exclusively now since I ran over my Kestrel. It doesn't "pair" with the phone, rather it recognizes the signal and uses it. You cannot have the WeatherMeter app running at the same time as your ballsitics program. To keep it relatively simple I use an "app killer" application that shuts down a specified set of applications, then I'll make a clean start with my ballistics app without WeatherMeter running. If you want the temp to change more rapidly, take the rubber cover off, it seems to insulate it some. Otherwise, I wish they had this sensor for sale before I bough a Kestrel. The Kestrel wind direction vane can be modified easily to accept the sensor if you plan on using the sensor remotely. |
