How come we don't have a ham shack pic thread? Well, we do now. It's time to post photos of your ham shacks and radio rooms for all of arfcom to see.

Here's mine as of a couple of days ago.

I am in the middle of doing some rearranging.  I need some longer cables to make this exactly what I want it to be.  Not seen in picture, is my Signalink USB which eventually I want underneath my K3 which is going to take some work.  I never realized how much cable clutter I have... that will get better.  I just got this desk at a garage sale last weekend.  and I am still trying to make it work.  Its a far cry from what I started with two years ago.

Special surprise for Piccalo.

Here was my first station.  I am pictured with my youngest Thomas.  We did this routine over the winter for a long time.  I would volunteer to take evenings, and I would feed him and work low band DX.  It was a lot of fun, and he is still fascinated by the radio.

Here is a pic of my temporary shack. New shack is almost finished. Kind of disorganized but the radios work well. Half the toys are still in boxes.

I'm going to rebuild my setup next week, but for the moment here's the most expensive TV table ever

IC-2820, Flex-1500, Flex-3000, Motorola Astro Saber III, FT-817.

Not pictured: Ettus Research USRP, TS-480HX, Motorola Syntors, random handhelds.

My "shack"

I operate it from my laptop remotely by means of a Silex SX2000 USB-to-WiFi gateway.

IC7000, Microham USB III interface, SG239 coupler, PTC-1 tuner controller and a Rat Shack power supply.

The entire mess drops into a Stanley "Fat Max" toolbox for easy transport.

It's a (slow) work in progress.  Picked up some wood today, to build a stand for the power supply.  It's going under the desk.  Still planning to move the radio to the middle hole. Maybe the Elecraft panadapter in the left hole, and the  amp/tuner in the right (they are on the dream sheet).  Computer monitor will go on the top shelf where the laptop is, now.  And of course, I need a world map for the wall.

Why are you using an external keyer?  THe K3 has the easiest programming in the world.

So I can practice without having to power up the rig.   Several times each day, I will sit down and practice sending for just a few minutes (1-5).  Then I get up and go back to whatever I was doing.  The keyer is battery powered, and is "always on", so all I have to do is sit down and start sending. Easy.

EDIT:  And, it was fun to build..

Picture thread

Wonder if we will ever get lucky enough to have a pic thread get tacked... A picture thread pops up every now and then and theres some really cool stuff that people share, but they all get lost

My dad's shack. Note that both amps, antenna tuner, power supply and the antenna rotator controller are home made (basically from scratch).

Those are a couple of Uncle Sam's cast-off surplus receivers. The top one is a Watkins Johnson 8718A, while the bottom one is an old EAC produced "Collins" R-390a. They've both been recently gone through and brought up to spec, so they work like they should. I've got a Racal 6970/GM receiver that will take the top spot in the rack, but it's getting sent off for the same refurb treatment as the others before it does. I'll take a family portrait of them all when it gets back.

I am back to a Flex 3000 for the shack. I was running a Kenwood TS-590S, but think that the Flex is going to be the "go to" station.
I am also using a Elecraft KPA500 amp and a Palstar AT2K tuner.
