Whipped up a batch of pasta salad this morning while the weather was a little crappy.

Red, yellow and orange peppers, purple onion, black olives, cherry tomatoes and some green onion, mixed with some elbows and a good parmesan freshly grated. All stirred up with a homemade red wine vinaigrette dressing.

I'd eat all of those pictured. What's the stuff with the shrooms on top?

Spent the morning washing the RV. Will finish it up over the next couple days.

The afternoon was spent at the wineries. We ended at Coppola. It's really well put together. Lots of movie memorabilia. The wine was decent.

Tacos for dinner. Chores tomorrow!

Took my bride to San Francisco yesterday. 1st stop was a farmers market on the wharf. It was full of good stuff. I may go back next Sunday and load up on tomatoes and some other things to make a fresh batch of marinara.

We did buy some strawberries. They were so red they looked fake. I always sugar my strawberries but these were so sweet naturally there was no need.

Of course we drove across the Golden Gate to get there!

After the market I took her to Chinatown for lunch. Nothing crazy, just a small noodle shop that I visited years ago. I was surprised it was still there and that the family still owned it.

Some shots from the bay...

#coach-cooking....

Tri Tip slow cooker braised 6 hours after being seared and marked.

Tonight I made a small batch of bbq sauce and grilled up some chicken.

I'm just jealous I can't fuck off and tour the country like that, though a camper is in next year's plans. Keep it up, OP.

Took the wife out on a winery tour yesterday. We started at Coppola and spent about 6 hours hitting a half dozen or so.

They had a ton of his movie memorabilia, including a car from Tucker, and stuff from Apocalypse Now.

Some wine tasting on the patio...

I whipped up some dinner when we got back to the RV.

And prepped a meal for Tuesday, which is our next travel day. We are heading to the Central Coast to one of our favorite places, Pismo Beach!

We hit the beach! Actually parked on sand.

Next stop is the water

You are in WY.  There are so many amazing places there.

I have done so much traveling around the country in the past two years.  I never really had the opportunity as a broke ass paycheck to paycheck new father.  Even when I got a good paying job, I was so roped into work I couldn't do find time.  Now that my kids are grown and I don't owe anyone a damn dime,  I set my hours at work and take my time to do things as I please.
I have a 28 foot camper and never use it.  It sits in storage.  My sons used it once this summer.  Id rather take one of my vans and disappear.

I've tried to post some of the travels in GD.  But you can about imagine how that went.

You are doing it right! You look like you are having a great time.

I don't know about you.  I rarely plan anything other than the general area I will point the windshield.  I wing it almost exclusively.

Sometimes I don't even know where I am going to park for the night.

Sometimes in the mountains,  Sometimes in parks, Sometimes in rest areas, Sometimes in campgrounds... Heck! sometimes in Arfcommers driveways.

And the camper I never use.

And the new ride getting broken in.

I have sooo many more pics in cool places.  But I don't want to seem like I am hijacking your thread.

Some adventures out yesterday. We visited Avila beach and hit the fishing pier. All the regulars were there.

We hit the pier in Pismo as well after dinner. Spotted the birds hawking the whales in the water and my bride got the telephoto lens out. Lots of tail shots and blows from a couple thousand yards. Ill see what we can enlarge.

Took my wife and son whale watching today. It was a great trip out into the bay in Santa Barbara.

Their water temp mix is such that they get tons of bait fish and plankton like food for whales and dolphins.

We saw a dozen humpback whales and hundreds of dolphins today. I'll wade thru the 250 or so pics I took and post some good ones up.

It's the Santa Barbara channel, bracketed in by the Channel Islands. The tuna run has been on, not sure if it's still going. Glad you had a great time!

Those are all different areas.

The first is in Wyoming between tensleep and buffalo on 16.  There are some nice dispersed areas on the old highway that runs next to it (old 18 iirc).

The second is just a pic of the van from up on a ledge in Zion.

And the third is at a dispersed site in Utah. East and north of Parowan. Somewhere in the area of grand Castle.

It's why I built my vans.

They go places.. I drove one up to Kerwin this summer.  It was a fun.  Bumpy ride. Had to forge the river in a couple spots.

Pics from the show at Miramar.

Just before the Angels show the Marines performed a combined arms attack on the air field. From fast roping Force Recon and a FAC in to coordinate air strikes to bombing runs from the two F-35B and F-18 Super Hornets, to the short field landing and takeoff of a C-130, delivery of a rifle company via Ospreys, close air support from Cobras and reinforcing the troops from Hueys, to relieving the force holding the position with armor from an amphibious landing... oh, and artillery delivered via CH-53's, they had a little bit of everything.

I don't know how military jets are marked, but the F-16 with "SW" marked on the tail could be from Shaw AFB here in SC.  Why an AF jet would be at a Marine show... IDK?? Free hours for the pilot?

I know I have seen those SW markings in the skies above me here at home before.

The Falcons that were at the show (one static and one demo) as well as the C-17 were announced as to where they were out of. I didn't pay enough attention though, except when they mentioned the crew was out of Hawaii for the C-17. The bird was local in Cali.

They had a little of everything, including an old KC-135, a bunch of AF and Naval training planes, some aggressor planes from Top Gun and Red Flag, and early on Sunday a U2 flyby.

I’ll admit that I was a bit jealous. I’d love to have the time and means to do something like that. I hope that “one day” comes for me as well.
