In the 1970's, my next door neighbor had a medium sized rail dragster in his garage. He used to fire that thing up and shoot flames out the open door.

As a 17 yo kid, he let me "drive" it in the empty parking lot of the local grocery store on a weekend early one morning. I didn't get to open it up (for obvious reasons) but it was way cool. I kind of just "idled" it around. Too cool of an experience.

I was also a member of Ohio Street Machines with my 1965 Mustang back then and my brother ran his Duece coupe on the 1/4 mile track in Xenia a few times for amateur night. Those were the days.

With the Ohio Street Machine club, we had a weekend getaway where they served Genesee cream ale out of the keg for a quarter a cup. I was old enough to drink legally by then. And I got laid by my girlfriend in the back seat. I miss those days.

You managed to have sex in the back of a '65 Mustang? Please tell me it was a coupe.  I just spent the last week wallerin' my big old fat ass around it the back of my '66 Fastback replacing all the interior panels and as I sat there I wondered how the hell anyone could have sex in the back on one or these damned things.
I guess I could install hidden cameras and let my teenage son have it for the weekend to find out

I weighed about 135 lbs and the chicky gf was only about 100 or so and short. It was a fox body and if I remember, we put the front seats up. Hey, my other cheap car was a 1979 Pinto station wagon with an air mattress. It was a rolling love machine.

I weigh a bit more now and lost all my hair. Well, what hasn't turned gray.

I've seen some of those cars run.

My father took me to my first Drag Race when I was 3 y/o...Orange County International in 1963.

Been hooked ever since.

As a major Mopar guy and building a 66 D-Dart drag car I love the 60's era cars

Back in the 80's a family friend had a fuel altered from the '60's that still ran the ultra hard tires and would smoke them from end to end of the track, back before they were called "classic" or "vintage" and were just old junk.

I got to "drive" it once on a pass. He told me to dump the clutch at just under 10k rpm and it would smoke the tires all the way down.

I got it up to about 7.5k rpm and I thought the entire engine was going to blow, felt like the car was coming apart bolt by bolt. I dumped the clutch and it stalled out lol.

Last time I sat in one.
