Dirt and debris get under them and rub on the spoiler. Pretty amazing the gas mileage these things can get when you're taking it easy. I really only use the street setting when on long road trips, typically I'm in custom mode (suspension street, steering sport, traction sport, transmission track). Quick tip - press the Mode button twice and the car will go into your Custom setting. |

She looks sweet! Little hint - I've had one 5.7 and three 6.4s so far with the ZF. You CAN "train" the tranny to be either outstanding, or world class shocking amazing. When past break in, please don't hesitate to floor it with all traction on from a stop often, and also please consider blipping and force flooring take-offs when already at highway speed (with traction in street). IMHO it can make a huge difference in how that magical ZF 8 will respond moving forward. |

All good info, thanks guys. I really haven’t driven it since I got it home as I had to go to work. My wife has been bugging me to pull off the yellow guards and it looks like it’s only a small clip in there holding it on so those will come off.
Honestly it’s a huge step up in tech for me so I’ve got a lot of learning to do. My plan was to make it my daily driver and sell my old one. Wife saw it and thinks it’s too nice for that and is having me keep my old car for work so this will stay low miles and clean. |
|
|
I ended up doing the same. Kind of decided, for now anyway, that i like having a garage car so I bought a GTI for a daily and the Challenger doesnt go out in the rain unless I get caught during a road trip.
When those shit pirelli's wear down to nothing in under 10k miles, get some Michelin's on there. I was shocked how bad those tires were and how much better the Michelins perform. I have the 305s and the OEMs tramlined something fierce. The Michelins dont do it somehow. Look into a catch can if you're going to keep the car for a long time. |

@1BMF if your black Chally is the same color code as our 23 Durango, you'll notice there is a TON of beautiful flake kinda "hidden" in the paint, that at certain limited angles will really pop beautifully. I kept telling my wife about it, and she didn't believe me until yesterday when we were out and about in the sun, and she outta blue said "damn!, you are right, it's a gorgeous subdued black color".

Got my 6mo/6k mile oil change coming up for the 6.4. I kinda wish they stipulated something like the earlier of one year or 6K miles - I just don't really know if modern premium synthetics are gonna actually degrade in six months when not driven too much - but it is what it is. And yes, I know I could do it myself, but we've decided to get all the changes documented at the dealer while it is under MaximumCare. And I am thankful to have this first world problem.

Got the oil changed in the 6.4 at the dealer. I know I get mocked for it , but I swear by God when I get fresh oil in these things they are faster accelerating.
Potentially important to fellow 6.4 and HC owners, I got the RF Hub locked too, so no new keys can be programmed. It's at least one step to potentially preventing theft, and yes, I know if someone wants a car bad enough, they will get it, even if they have to resort to a flatbed. In the past and earlier in this thread, I think I mistakenly called this procedure "locking the PCM", which is wrong - it's really called locking the RF Hub. Few years ago I got a letter from FCA back when we had our Challenger about the option, and had it done on the Chally at another dealer. Only downside is, if you lose your fobs, the dealer has to install a new RF Hub (and ya got to pay for it $$$) for them to program/add a new key. I am so very thankful they did it for free. If you elect to get this done, please mention there are some TSBs out about it, so they can look it up. And also got the MOPAR wheel locks put on. That was about $100 total, and yeah, I know it could been a lot cheaper if I did it myself. But anyhoo IMHO that's another visual indicator to profession thieve pieces of shit that one is aware of their kind, and has taken measures and precautions, and maybe it might cause a potential piece of shit to move on past your car, to the next (sorry not sorry, I wish we'd cut off hands for theft in the US). And yes, I know the wheel locks won't keep a determined thief with time from steeling yer wheels too. That is all. I love me some 6.4 and am thankful to God for our blessings and to have one. |

Would anyone happen to know if there is a particular setting in the Performance Pages that opens the active exhaust valves - its "dual mode exhaust" - all the time when it is in that setting? I've been poking around some dedicated Hellcat forums, and lots of folks seem to have different understandings of how it works. The most convincing opinion I read was that when the tranny is put in "Track", it opens the exhaust valves way earlier than it usually would. And a few folks seemed to think that when the tranny was in "Track" it was open all the time. I'm not chasing this to see how to make my Hemi louder LOL, and rather am interested in what setting if any actually changes its operation.
little diddy bout jack and diane and dual mode exhaust "When those 2017 models were introduced in the Hellcat and Scat Pack trimlines, they came loaded with a 2.75-inch dual mode exhaust system that let the Hemi engines howl when pushed, while still quieting down in more gentle driving situations. The advantage to this active exhaust system is that it allows you to let that high-performance engine scream when it is opened up, but still not bother the neighbors when you are warming the car up before going to work. Second only to horsepower, the sound of these dual mode "scat pack exhaust systems" on the 2015-2016 Dodge Challenger and Charger Scat Pack and Hellcat were a favorites feature for owners. This, however, left owners of the models sporting the 5.7L Hemi V8 engine to look for aftermarket exhaust components to get a similar scat pack exhaust sound. In 2017, that changed. That's when every Dodge Challenger and Charger with a Hemi engine came equipped with the 2.75-inch dual mode exhaust system. Dual Mode Exhaust for All Hemi Muscle Cars This means, starting with the 2017 model year, the Challenger in R/T, R/T Plus, R/T Shaker and R/T Shaker Plus trimlines, and the Charger in R/T and R/T Road & Track trimlines are equipped with the same growling exhaust system as the Scat Pack and Hellcat models. How the Dual Mode Exhaust System Works The dual mode exhaust system in each Hemi-equipped Dodge Challenger and Charger is what is known as an "active exhaust." If you are asking, "What is an active exhaust," it's best to answer by explaining how and active exhaust works. The Dodge dual-mode exhaust system employs a pair of electronic valves situated toward the rear of the vehicle. The valves in this active exhaust system are in place to control the output of the exhaust noise and are closed to keep sound levels at a minimum when the engine is idling and/or in light throttle situations. The setting also assists in minimizing the "drone" sound during highway driving. When you put the pedal to the metal, though, those valves open up and the exhaust starts to roar." |

I was under the impression it’s RPM controlled high/low on when they open and close.
Not an open all the time situation in track mode. |

Interesting question. Mine doesn't seem to be any louder in track mode unless I open it up. Frankly, I don't really notice any difference between ANY of the modes but I'm always in the car so maybe it sounds different to those outside of it.

I notice a difference but I don’t have stock exhaust.

Mine is still stock but aftermarket is on the table. I just haven't decided if I am going to keep it forever. If I make that call, time to do some fun additions.
|

On many of the other boards lots of folks believe the SRT exhaust is really made by Borla. I haven't really dug into that, but it seems to be a popular understanding.

I have a 2016 6.4L (no Track Mode), and installed the MFER-1 delete kit on my active exhaust to hear the sounds of my people all of the time, not just when the computer thinks I should.

I don't know if anyone else has seen these, but this warning came up on my UConnect the other day:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CAUTION Emergency Vehicle Ahead Dismiss Not There >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Here's a photo of what it looks like (stock image, not my car): First time I have ever seen that in 3.5 years of owning the car, and I've certainly been in the proximity of active emergency vehicles over that time. My car is a 2020 model year (purchased in 2021) with UConnect 8.4. I don't know if this feature has always been there or if nearby departments (in this instance it was a Suffolk County [Long Island] Police Department vehicle in my vicinity) have only recently started participating in the system, which is called Emergency Vehicle Alert System (EVAS), a.k.a. "HAAS Alert." Nonetheless, it definitely made me do a double-take while I was driving. Since the system is there to ensure the safety of first responders and to make folks aware of their vehicles (as well as those they are tending to), I hope they will also send alerts when there is a radar or or laser-equipped state trooper or police vehicle stopped alongside the parkways, highways, etc., as we approach them. Anyway, here's a link to a brief story on the system: AXIOS: Some cars can detect emergency vehicles before drivers do (May 26, 2023) |
