Sidewalls are cracked. They're probably original from Greece.

Gull wing style. They swing up. Kind of a pain. The springs are a little weak so it requires some effort to get up.

Top 1/4 done.

The surface conditioner tool is nice but dang, the wheels get used up quickly and at 30$ per wheel it's kinda pricey. Wire wheels are 6$ each delivered free off amazon.

I have a couple spots to touch up on the sides.

I'm dreading painting the inside.

Most of the removable interior spots are painted.

What color are you going with or are you going to do something like a NATO 3 color on it?

You know it would be really cool if you'd buff out all that metal so it was shiny smooth and then it would look like a combination of a DeLorean and a alien spacecraft.

I guess looking back on all this work it would have been a lot easier to just sandblast the whole thing

I don’t have an air compressor so I’m kind of stuck.

That’s on my list of things to get

Keeping the engine original?  There are some intake, carb, and exhaust upgrades that will open that 318 up a bit.

Gonna keep it original as I can. At some point the engine will go out so it might get replaced with a built 360. It’s a drop in replacement. M35ben mentioned that.

I am going to put a nice holly carb on it at some point and upgrade the filtration.

Took the drivers hatch off, easier to clean inside the crevices.

Sun came out so I called it quits before I could finish. Only about an hour and some change left to finish grinding the exterior.

Exterior is 99% done. Some spots to touch up but it’s basically there. The drivers hatch and turret hatch are off.

Next week I will tackle the rock guards, touch ups, air filter setup, also, take one wheel off, take it to the rim guy, see about getting a non split rim tire.

Or maybe take the week off, I don’t know. My wife asks “what are you doing all day on the shop?”. It’s hard to explain mechanical things and the process of what I’m doing so I just say I’m playing with the tanks

Some of the areas that you've wire-brushed look like a sort of camo.

I put air conditioning in my shop..
It's just a window unit and it won't cool the whole place off but if I pull whatever I'm working on right by that window it makes it somewhat comfortable

It's not bad compared to the BRDM and is lightyears better because you can actually stick your head out of the vehicle.

No problem, but bring your muscles because they are not some wimpy mag or aluminum cased transfer case.

I will channel the inner strength of my ancestors!

No work done on the BRDM or the Roland in a bit, I've been busy between military obligations, family, and work.

But this is nice:

The concrete for the exterior is done. Now no more sinking the BRDM (yes, it happened once) or my truck in the ground when I pull up into the shop.
