No––I mean the ones that look like a giant cartridge.  Are those available?

I have no idea what that thing you have is.

It's a 30mm HEDP case. You've probably seen film footage of them falling out of the bottom of an Apache..., and the black and white video footage of the hilarity that ensues on the other end! Funny that it's a belted rimless case though. Like having a giant .470 Capstick case.

I've seen inert ones from time to time, are you looking for a live cartridge?

Admit it TBK, you just want to impress PlaneJane from that "other thread".

Scew 50 BMG! I want an AR upper chambered in that! Can you even buy the HE ones or the APDS ones(do they even make those since its mainly an aircraft cannon)? Can you even buy the live 30mm without jumping though the NFA hoops? Seems like they would contain more than 1/4 ounce of explosive given the size. I have no idea though as I have 0 expirience with either.

There were some folks on the NFA forum with 30mm rifles and some videos.

Way out of my league.

Anzio Ironworks makes a rifle in 20mm.

A buddy of mine has a vulcan barrel off a f-14 Tomcat I think. I've always wanted to make a gun out of it. Has anyone ever heard of this being done ? That's kinda why I asked about ammo in my last post. Obviously it would need to be Form 1'd, but it'd be worth it for sure. Nothing quite says "I'm unhappy with you're behavior" like a HE or APDS 20mm or 30mm round.

Live practice rounds are legal,  no problem.  That is, they can't have explosive projectiles.

The 20mm shooter crowd (there are a few with Lahtis, you know, and if you care to jump through the hoops, you can play in the DD world, too) uses cut-down and reformed 20mm Vulcan brass with M55 Vulcan target practice slugs.   Makes a nice big hole with admirable wind resistance

and impressive brush bucking performance!

River Valley Ordnance used to be a source for the M55 TP slugs.  Maybe they still have some?

Is that steel or blackened brass?

Looking around the rim there appear to be extractor marks that make it look like it might be steel.

See my post above. I've seen the Anzio rifle, and it looks sweet. It is a bit out of my price range though. I can't realistically justify 10g's on something that would only get shot with TP ammo every once in a while. If I could make a "half assed one" out of a pre existing barrel, and keep the cost in check and spread out I think the goal would be much more realistic. I don't have any delusions of grandueor (sp?) with regard to any practical application, but it'd sure be a fun "toy". Ball or HE ammo though, specifically being able to find or load it, would be the deal breaker though. TP ammo would take a lot of the fun out of it. Hence the reason I haven't pursued an M203. Shooting just training rounds is not as fun. Though I have been trying to justify the 203 as I can shoot other stuff out of it.

Damn ARFCOM, I always end up spending/wanting to spend money after I leave. That's half the reason I quit frequenting the tech forums so much. Haha. So much to buy, so little funds.

Aluminum. CCI must make them as part of their Blazer line.

NO.....legally just like grenades.  Marines use the 30MM in the Bushmaster.
