Interesting conversion by some British nutter –– puts a 1,500 horsepower V12 into a pre-war single-seat Bentley racer.

The guy driving it in the video is obviously frightened and doesn't push it very hard.
I want one, just so I can pull up beside a Honda Insight or a Prius at a traffic light, and make the driver cry.

Was on car crazy on SPEED channel the other day and they were cooking brats or whatever in the exhaust.

Guy is a total car nut and his museum was out of this world.

I drive a Prius and if that pulled up next to me, I'd give him the thumbs up!

Too bad he couldn't open that bitch up.  They need to take that fucker to the Bonneville Salt Flats and see how fast it will go!

My granddad was a PT Boat CO in WWII, and he raved about those engines (imagine 3 of them in a 100 ft boat).

If you look at the design of the boat, there are a set of valves on the stern that would stay closed when boat was idling and would direct the exhaust sounds under water.  When they hit the throttle those would open, and bam, straight exhaust out the back.

MAGNIFICENT!!  I just loved when simply idling the engine set off the car alarm of the vehicle in front of this one.
300 RPM, 4th gear doing about 40-50 mph.  Does that truly mean that 600 RPM equals 100 mph, and 900 RPM equals 150mph?
If the max rpm was quoted at 2500 rpm, that would be a lot faster than I would want to drive it...but I would dearly love giving it a go.

I imagine how it could snap your head back if you put on too much throttle.

I was just kind of thinking that... is this thing capable of 300+ mph?

I read TFA. It says 160+ mph as a top speed. It seems to be barely controllable at lower speeds - difficult to stop and very difficult to turn. I imagine the real icing on the cake would  be to take it to the salt flats and let it all hang out. It eats four gallons per minute idling. At a show, it melted the sneaker laces of people standing too close.

I want one.

Other than the novelty factor, it's retarded.

There are a lot of faster cars out there that can perform amazing tricks - like stopping, turning a corner, offering a wee bit of protection to their driver,  not crashing like a racing hydrofoil at any speed over 60 MPH,  .....
