Okay, it's one or the other.

I'm sure I'll probaby have both some day, so the typical "get both" won't work as of right now.

So I've come to the point where I want to get a pistol I don't really need, just that I want something new.  I've wanted both for a while, but I really only want to get one at the moment.  I already load for 45acp, and setting up for 50AE wouldn't be a problem either, but ammo-wise 50 would obviously cost more regardless.  Which one do you people think I should get right now?  Reasons welcome.

The choice is going to be made online tonight, either way.  Just a couple more beers before I drop the hammer and click the purchase button online, lol.

UPDATE:

Just picked it up today, going to try it out tomorrow.

I'd get neither. Springfield TRP maybe...

I vote the 1911. Unless you have unlimited funds or plan to reload .50 AE, I'd get the .45.
Of course, you could get a Glock...

+1

I'd take it up a notch and get a S&W 500.

ETA:  I'd get the Desert Eagle from those two choices though.

Simply a planned impilse purchase, guys.  If that makes any sense.  Just a couple guns I've always wanted, just not both at once, lol.  :)

Keep the votes coming, should have made this a poll.

Longslide.   Sad to say I traded my Hardballer Longslide in on a Glock 35 a couple weeks ago.   It was getting pretty worn and it wasn't very well made to begin with so I figured it was time for it to go.

Yeah, they could teach the OP how to properly wear his pants around his ankles, hold his gun sideways, hot wire cars, etc. Lots of useful skills.

Get the Desert Eagle.  The longslide is just a "special" 1911 but the DE is unique.  Besides, the DE is Israeli.

If he gets an IMI Deagle. Aren't they currently being made by Auto Ordnance or some shit?

Desert Eagles are just a novelty tard magnet

won't even carry them anymore

they sit around forever and every tard that comes in to look at it  calls/text their friends in  a 100mile radius about it resulting exponentially expanding numbers of tards

if said desert Eagle is chrome/nickel multiple tard factor by 2x gold 3x tiger stripe gold 5x

of course none of said tards have more than $10 so they never get sold

Have you ever fired a Desert Eagle, OP? It's super huge, super expensive, has a safety in a terrible location, and it only holds 7 rounds that cost $1+ each. If you have fired one and you like it, suit yourself. But if you have not fired one, I would strongly recommend doing so before buying one. (I wasn't impressed by the experience.)

That 1911 on the other hand is one suave piece of hardware that should handle really well.

Yep, fired one back in '96, but in 44 mag.  Shot the LAR Grizzly in 50AE.

All being said, you guys in the majority have made me decide on the Springfield.  I just hit the 'submit' button.

Thanks!

I think you chose poorly for a glam gun.  You should have picked the more expensive, more unwieldy and, I've read, less reliable gun.

Yehh, I know what you're saying.

I'm starting to have buyer's remorse, so maybe there is only one last thing to do...
