I don't think anything could surpass the tingle I felt in my balls when Jesse wound up 'ol painless for the first time in Predator. Even as a child I suspected no man could control such a beast with his own two hands, and that suspension of disbelief, entertaining the notion that yes, perhaps, through sheer determination and will, against insurmountable odds, a man might go beyond what is mortally possible and succeed, created movie magic for me.

I know its almost became boring now that everyone's seen it a billion times but the first time I saw the minigun scene in Terminator 2 I instantly hit puberty and jizzed my pants.

While the one in your picture is not the Quigley model (the Quigley had a carbine buttstock, not a shotgun buttstock), it's still badass. I have a similar model - the Heavy Target model from Pedersoli - in .45-70, and it's a hella cool rifle. With cast lead bullets over black powder it's an absolute HOOT to shoot, and very accurate to boot. Gets lots of attention at the range... yet I haven't been out there with it in a long time. |

There's cool and then there's awesome. Jesse Ventura on the minigun decimating the rainforest in Predator was awesome. I think it was the first time anyone had ever seen a man-portable minigun on the big screen.

Someone once told me that shooting that thing is like catching a baseball bat swing in the palms. Don't how accurate that is......but it is a one heck of a WHUMP gun.....sort of like shooting the -10. _________________________________________________________________________________ ("I want you to put two shots into him. Ya know I expected more out of you... Elliott Marston: Ah ha. Legendary Sharps. Matthew Quigley: You know your weapons. It's a lever-action, breech loader. Usual barrel length's thirty inches. This one has an extra four. It's converted to use a special forty-five caliber, hundred and ten grain metal cartridge, with a five-hundred forty grain paper patch bullet. It's fitted with double set triggers, and a Vernier sight. It's marked up to twelve-hundred yards. This one shoots a mite further. Elliott Marston: An experimental weapon with experimental ammunition. Matthew Quigley: You could call it that. Elliott Marston: Let's experiment. Also there is no M107 in Rambo... it is a Barrett but not a 107 a CQ |

Where is the choice for Dirty Harry's 44 Magnum? Poll Fail. Yep, and they even have the correct sound for the blast of the magnum round |

I was underwhelmed by the remake of the Mechanic, but Donald Sutherland's engraved 1911 made me drool.
Also like Charles Bronson's "Friend Wildey" in Death Wish III. |

The Chicom milled ak that Charlie Sheen shoots Barnes with ...picks it up out of the mud..checks the chamber and then drills him

The night scene of little birds mini-gun/rockets run on the strobes in BHD.
G**DAMN! That made me tear up and shout, "FUCK YEAH! GET SOME!!!" when I saw it the first time. |

I liked the Full Auto shotgun in Predators.
But always love when C-96 Broomhandles or MP-40's make it into movies. |

That'd be my choice as well, but I have a certain fondness for this too: |

Dirty Harry's Model 29
John McLane and Martin Riggs' Beretta 92s Robocop's Beretta 93 T-101's 1887 and Minigun from T2 Quigley's Sharp's |

Screw all that high-tech futuristic stuff - I'll take one of those good ol' b-grade movie machine guns that never runs out of ammo

For purposes of the discussion (for me at least), the weapon must be fictional.
One of the earliest movie guns that I thought was truly awe-inspiring was the "Ol' Painless" man-portable minigun in Predator. The idea of mowing down a few acres of jungle that way makes for good action movie material. Nothing really comes close. Probably second on my list are all the weapons in Aliens. I liked the pulse rifles, smart guns not so much (the idea of a steadycam-mounted heavy weapon looks great, but even then the idea of not being able to go prone was... bothersome). The sentry guns were pretty neat as well. Decker's handheld artillery piece in Blade Runner just looked like it would blow the shit out of anything (though Pris is the only one that gets shot by him IIRC). |
