One of the best threads this week.  Damn that guy was a genius.

One of my favorites was the one where the dad was telling his son to quiet down or the monster in the basement would get him. The dad has a switch controlling a remote "knocker"on the other side of the basement door. I have all of the farside books, great stuff.

This and "Calvin & Hobbes" were my favorite comics as a kid. After Larson and Watterson called it a day (both in 1995), I pretty much stopped reading newspaper comics.

There are 2 kinds of people in the world:

those who get "cow tools", and those who don't

After Larson retired from making Far Side cartoons, I quit looking at the funny papers/comic strips.  That was always the first thing I looked for in the Sunday paper.  Thanks to the OP for starting this thread, gave me a few good laughs!

I went to school with Gary. We lived about 4 blocks apart. He was pretty much geeky/normal back then. I, for one, am really glad he got in touch with his Inner Goofball. I've loved his work for many years.

My personal favorites are the ones of hell. Don't have the pics but some from what I remember:

"even the coffee is cold, they thought of everything"

Guy whistling in hell and some devil assistants talking "we just not getting through to that guy"

Guy wakes up in he'll sweating, guy next cot over "relax, you just had nightmare, then again we are in hell"

Devil reading cards from a suggestion box and laughing.

One of my good friends from high school is super smart (skipped multiple grades/took college classes in high school smart), but back in high school was lacking in common sense. His dad bought him a mug with this on it for Christmas.

And now the weather.  Sorry, folks, but I'm afraid that cold front I told you about yesterday is just BAAAARRRRELY going to miss us.

The one I quote most often is cows in their living room, phone ringing, & one says 'there it goes again, and here we sit without opposable thumbs."

Billy breaks a vase.

His dad the dentist: "I guess it's time for one of our "appointments," isn't it, Billy?"

Dental chair in the basement.

Don't laugh! That is basically how my nephew got into the IT business: he was hired to break games.

He now makes 6 figures in the business, and has about 2-3 majors bidding for him. (One of them is Netflix.)

Oh God yes.

Both Mr.Larson and Mr.Watterson( Calvin&Hobbes) made me laugh my way through the 80's and 90's.
Made me laugh HARD!
