Well, waddya think? Just finished building this guy today. The design is dyed in, not painted. That means no scratches, chips, or having to worry about it getting wet.

ETA: Just got the upper in today, and it's officially done! Here's the finished product:

Well, the beauty of it is that if I end up hating it, I can just chuck it all in a pot of black dye and it'll just look like standard Magpul

If Rit dye is vinyl, then yes. If it's not, then no

Dyed makes alot more sense. I see all these cool paint jobs here, but I would imagine there are major issues getting paint to adhere to plastic.

Aren't they just going to be flaking and chipping away with the slightest bumps?

MOE handguards next? I'd be interested to see a tutorial. Would probably go for more camouflaged colors, but I like the pattern.

Wow, I really wasn't expecting this kind of response. I'm about to leave town for the weekend, but I'll post a detailed tutorial on Monday. Thanks for the compliments!

Also, the process I outlined in my original "how-to" thread for the mags is pretty close to what used for my most recent project. I just used different colors. The base color is Rit "Rose Pink," and the stripes were done with Rit black. More details to come...
