I once ate in a bar/restaurant in Nogales Mexico that had a blind Keyboard player that played nothing but hey jude over and over again for more than an hour straight until we left. Truth.

funny LB story. I took GF to a place with Mariachis one time. They came by the table and started playing. four or five songs. Then I found out they wanted 12 bucks/song. oh. Oh! That was one expensitive Mexican dinner...

There's a wonderful Italian restaraunt here, Carmelo's.

Great place to take a date. Usually there's a chick playing gigantic harp. It's actually very nice. But sometimes there's a butthole strolling around with a violin. And it takes $10 to make him go away. Fuck that. Don't walk up on us when we're trying to have a conversation and enjoy the food. Get all in our faces with your shitty playing.

But I don't mind mariachis playing in a Mexican joint. They tend to stay put and I'll put a few bucks in the jar when we're leaving.

Dude...I once saw this mariachi pull a whole shitload of guns out of his guitar case, and single handedly kill about 50 armed thugs in this little dive bar in Mexico.

The only time I heard one at a restaturant they were roaming up and down between tables. I guess the music is tolerable to a point if done well but damn near unbearable when done 1 foot from your table,

In Mexico, it's not just confined to restaurants.

Some beggers make their money by getting on Mexican buses and singing badly until the other bus riders take up a collection to shut them up.

I actually like them. Not a lot of places here have that so it is unusual enough that it is cool to see. Best Mariachi's I have seen were in Mexico and Costa Rica.
