Going to have to make a stop there next time we go visit the Mother in Law. Senora Senoia isn't TOO far from Peachtree City is it?

Just looked at the map. Literally right up the street!

It is actually called Senoia, GA. Movies are nothing new to the town. Several films were shot there.

15 miles off 85. One of the shop owners said there is an AMC store opening in the town.

That's cool.
For anyone interested there is a Walking Dead tour on google maps that shows you all the locations they have filmed what scenes were filmed there. The wife and I have thought about popping over to Georgia and seeing the sights. Yeah we're lame and we know it.

I wanted to see the jail. It is actually a warehouse on a dirt road that is closed off to the public. There was plenty of fake stuff. The town hall was a facade. The train cars were placed to block the view of the condos nearby and the cedar trees  are dead but spray painted green.

They filmed in Senoia. There is a real Woodbury, GA, but according to the locals, no filming was done there.

Holy shit!!  I figured it was just a studio set.

I wonder if they use any of the residents as extras.

No. It is a warehouse near the town that has been turned into a prison for the show.

Senoia isn't actually smoggy!  More pics of the town at the link below.

Yes, there is a real town of Woodbury about 30 mins south of Senoia, but you wouldn't want to film anything there.  Well, maybe an episode of The First 48...

Funny.  I've lived 10-15 miles from Senoia all my life, but I haven't been there in over 15 years, and I've never watched The Walking Dead.

I think the fogginess of the pictures was because of my phone. When the battery gets low I notice the picture quality drop.

I would love to do a fan tour of many of the walking dead locations including the prison, the farm, the rock quarry and pond (from season #1) and woodbury/senoia (among others including the town where they filmed the episode "clear" with lenny james a few weeks ago.)

I live 3 miles from Senoia.  The WD has been a big economic boost to them.  They have filmed many movies there.  The town can change store fronts to accommodate different movie sets.  They have it down to a science.

BTW, McQuires (underneath the Redneck Gourmet) is better. Zac Brown has a bar/club in Senoia too.  It's called Southern Ground Social Club.  Small bands play in the back.

Glad you and the family had a good time.

Keith

Did you check out Zac Browns place its right on the main strip. I believe the name is Southern Ground. The Irish pub beneath redneck gourmet is also a pretty fun place.

Is that Woodbury sign in Senoia as part of a set, or was that actually taken in Woodbury?

Senoia. They also had this up when I went, it was on the bottom corner of town, on the SW:

I'm guessing by the Private Property / No Trespassing, Loitering, Soliciting sign the owners of that property are getting tired of people using their house as a photo prop.
