Reminds me of that kooky (talented) guy on PBS.  Woodwright or something.

Sweet.

I've always wanted to build some stuff the old fashioned way. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

Roy Underhill on the Woodwright's Shop, from WUNC Public Television.  I can't believe he's been doing the show for over three decades now and it's still going strong.

Now thats a chisel mate. All those axes and adze alone probably run about $5000 if not more. Its amazing how much good hand tools cost. Neat video. Love the sound effects.

My dad's a woodworker.  When I was growing up in the 80s and 90s he did all of his turning on a foot powered lathe.  He's still go it, we were just talking about it last weekend actually.  He's one of those guys with mad skills to build anything from wood.

As a carpenter, son of a carpenter, grandson of a carpenter, great grandson of a carpenter, my hats off to him. We are truly spoiled with the advances in tools nowadays. When my granddaddy passed last year, I inherited from him some of his woodturning knives and his 1940's Rockwell lathe. Come to find out after some research on the markings on the knives, some of them date back to 1700's Germany. Still very sharp, enough to shave the hair from your arm! I love to see people keeping the trade alive and well! Awesome video!! The 1000 BPM peg-driving shots had me LMAO as well!

What? Why didn't he cast and forge the metal bits and wheels?

Or for that matter make the wheels out of wood...

Not impressed. /sarcasm

This right here. In another generation or two, will there be anyone who can run this type of equipment, let alone build it from scratch? My Dad can fabricate with metal like crazy and I can only do about half of what he can.

That is beyond being a skilled carpenter. It's more like a renaissance wood artisan.
