"What's to stop them?" is a pretty compelling question because it puts all of the emphasis on the character of the man in office. All of the pieces to enable a brutally oppressive tyranny are either already in place or are in the final stages of assembly as we speak. The turnkey moment is when some megalomaniac who just won an election decides that he doesn't care what the Constitution says anymore and isn't shy about it. That mans character, whether he will fo or not, is the final piece. How much do we trust him?? |

That mans character, whether he will fo or not, is the final piece. How much do we trust him?? Government is an imaginary construct. It doesn't exist except in the minds of people. All it's made up of is "other people". Universal principles apply. It is immoral to initiate violence, or violent coercion. It is immoral to take other people's property. These are universal principles we are taught from childhood. If people in government use violent coercion to take your property....they are evil. If people wearing special costumes initiate violence against others...they are evil. Once you see government for what it is, the solutions start to become very clear. |

More of an propaganda thread than a meme thread. Not a bad thing, its just not titled accurately IMHO.

View Quote Maybe now's the time to start that national 12 step program to fiscal responsibility.... I try to get away from the government as much as possible. The most miserable times in my life usually involve interacting with government and I avoid people in funny costumes, or that have government titles, as much as possible. The ONLY reason I comply with their orders is to make my life easier. I certainly don't believe in them, or obey them because I respect them. I see people in government for what they are. People willing to initiate violence, and violent coercion. They're nothing more then the mob wrapped in propaganda. So, I'm having a real hard time seeing the downside here. |

View Quote False. American's were still taxed by local and state governments on their earnings. In fact, the first tax was the Whiskey Tax which resulted in the first use of federal troops to suppress the multi-state uprising. |
