Big news confirmed by Soldier Systems; Crye Precision has won the Army's latest camouflage selection.
This announcement has been a long time in coming, and while not official yet, I'm willing to take what we can get. Honestly I believed (along with most people probably) that ADS had this one in the bag, and perhaps Kryptek might have been the upset winner. But Crye? Didn't see that one coming. Thoughts? |

furloughs and weak budgets but we still find ways to buy new camoflauge

How many billions has the Army wasted on endless changes to camouflage? I've seen teenage girls with better decision making skills.

Quoted: Not much of a secret, seeing how they recently entered licensing negotiations with Crye. View Quote True, the unofficial word has been circulating for quite some time. But now we have it on record. I had assumed the licensing was for OCP only ~I guess it makes more sense now in light of this recent news.

Again with new camo? Woodland BDU's were all the rage when I went to basic training and after basic, OD green jungles were still authorized. How many times have they changed in the last 25 years?
|
|
About time.
Lot of bitching in this thread. I doubt anyone who has to wear UCP for a living is doing it.
|
|
|
So moving away from the digital style camo now back to something closer resembling the old BDU pattern?
Never really understood what the logic in adopting the grey colored camo was in the first place. |

How long before Arfcom starts buying it? View Quote Clearly a 13'er, arfcom has been starry eyed over multicam for years. |

Are they going to Keep the Pens pocket?
That pocket was revolutionary. Fucking stupid. |
|
|
|
Thank God.
They should have done this ten years ago. It makes sense though since it's already in the supply chain and the transition should go pretty rapidly and smoothly. |

This, and with normal pockets and collars. Throw some epaulettes in as well and a tuckable shirt and leather belt. These uniforms have gotten so non-military. I call it the policeization of the military. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Just go back to OD green and be done with it. This, and with normal pockets and collars. Throw some epaulettes in as well and a tuckable shirt and leather belt. These uniforms have gotten so non-military. I call it the policeization of the military. Don't even try to act like you originated that term... Lol... |

I have felt that soldiers don't look like soldiers anymore, and more like SWAT teams for some time. That is why I find the militarization of police threads funny. |

Is one of the Senators from North Carolina rrunning this cycle?

BDUs in woodland camo were the best thing ever. For Northern Europe and forested areas. Not for desert or cities. Which is why they had BDUs in desert camo and in cities the camo is not really a factor since you either have enough cover to hide in or you are in the open and nothing would help. |

So.. will they still look like fucking pajamas or a real uniform?

Different colored multicam? Mulitcam pattern in ACU colors. The Navy gets it in aquaflage and the Air Force gets it in ketchup, mustard and Taco Bell mild sauce. Mild sauce!? This is an outrage! Fire sauce color and we have a deal. |

So.. will they still look like fucking pajamas or a real uniform? View Quote Heh. Don't tell a Major I know about that. He agrees, vehemently, about the "Tactical jammies" look. And wouldn't mind a return to the OD wool service uniform with garrison cap or peaked service cap for non-field and non-fatigue duty. |

We need to get some fucking "Realtree" camo for fuck sakes.
This year during archery season I couldn't see a buddy I was hunting with not 20 feet from me. |
