I've been enamored by the looks of the Ruger GSR with irons.

I was wondering if anyone on this board had any similar set ups of Bolt rifles.

Particular with Irons sights, and detachable mags is a plus.

I don't have any, but I REALLY am digging that Ruger rifle!  Serious buying consideration going on with that piece.

I have an old 1960s era Interarms .270 with iron sights and an internal 5 round spring mag. It's the deer slayer.

I chopped up a 700 SPS Varmint in 308 . Shortened the barrel back to 18" and threaded for brake/can .

The muzzle has a shoulder turned down to accept a hooded sight , with a pic rail for the rear . I stuck the generic brake on her until I get the Surefire .

DPMS Mangonel sights are rugged as hell , but look too big for this application ( I shot her like this , and it works pretty good , it just looks too gompy) ......for now she's wearing a fixed Leupold 6-power....will probably end up milling a front sight from billet to work with a compact folding rear BUIS .......someday .

EGW, it is notched down the middle so you can still use the irons with the mount in place.  Eventually I get some QD rings

Those are cut down right? (Not an optical illusion/angle?)
If so I especially like the bottom one. Your work?

I have a couple 70s-80s Win M70s with iron sights and a Rem 798 .375 H&H too. The JC Higgins M50 .270 I have coming in also has irons.

I put one on my .308 Hoghunter... It fit perfectly.  Didn't have to epoxy float either end... It front screw in and tightened down.. No gap at rear.
Put rear screw in after removing the front one... No gap at front.
Put both screws in with loctite and mounted up my scope.... (and a better stock....)

Man that gun can shoot.

What stock?

Bell and Carlson Medalist for Stocky's Stocks.
Was headed for a 'budget precision' rig and the Hoghunter in the B&C (with a Harris Bipos, EGW mount etc.... ) was cheaper than the factory 'tactical' McMillan stocked rifle.... Factory McMillan wasn't even bedded properly and would have needed work.

I will say that B&C Medalist is a very nice stock for the coin,... The Hoghunter is a great action / barrel to build on.

tossed a fixed 10x Bushnell Mildot on it (on sale from Midway)...  Total rig (Rifle, stock, EGW mount, rings and scope) was under 1k and it can outshoot me.

I would like a better scope, but shooting beyond 600yards is rare for me... And when I do get to stretch my legs, I grab my AR50a1.
