With only a tractor and a box blade.

Long story short, this is my "long range" shooting area. I have another short range area with berms in place.  Max shooting distance is up to 500 yards (from the front of the field to the back). I mostly use it to shoot 300 and under.

For a while now I've just let the rounds go into the woods (nothing but woods for 2.5 miles to nearest road), but I figured today I'd do something about it.

And in less than 15 minutes I had a sizable little berm. Figured I'd shared some pics I took for those interested.

Initial mound.

Borrowing dirt from the field.

Collected dirt.

Pushing it into the rest of the berm.

Finished product.

It does, but height is limited without using a front end loader. For its current uses, it works.

You are off to a good start!

It takes a lot of dirt to make a berm go up in the air.  Now if you could find someone with a dump truck that needed to get rid of several loads of dirt.... (and a loader tractor)...

When we dig out the new pond in the next year, there will be plenty of dirt to go around. This is only a temporary one that was easy to make.

Here's one of the "proper height" berms I have.

Cool, and I'm jealous, but it seems like you bought yourself about 10 inches of backstop until it rains.

Edit?

If I get around to it this weekend I might play around with it some more.
